So being that yesterday was the big day and I recieved Assassin's Creed 2, I have noticed I now own three variatons of sort-of-parkor-ish-free-running games. They're also pretty polarising games, people seem to either love or hate these three.

Personally, I like them all. For me, there's something about the Assassins' free-running that makes it feel the most free; that being said, I think Mirror's Edge is the most satisfying.

So what's your favourite way to run the rooftops?

Prototype.

Running around sprinting at full speed and then snatching someone from the crowd as everyone below wonders what the heck just happened. Then later consuming said person on the rooftop. It's all awesome.

Really, this is the end all of this thread. As Parkour was made into the movement in this game as a main element (and selling point)

Plus, it is AWESOME.

Prince of Persia.

Really, I don't think anything tops it.

Although the cinematic platforming of Uncharted 2 deserves a mention, but I wouldn't call it parkour.

It is all awsome, especially throwing them off the building with musclemass on.

It might have been more simplistic than the free-running in the games you mentioned, but Beyond Good & Evil was excellent.

PS: Anybody see that gameplay-footage of the sequel? That stuff's TIGHT!

Prototype just crushes everything in it's way. Gets you there sure, but it's not graceful.
So true.

But I'm going with Ezio & Alty personally, because of the places where they go.

From the games that actually have parkour (and not platforming, rocket-jumping, or smashing yourself through barricades made of APCs [footnote][HEADING=3]Yes, what you do in Prototype is NOT parkour - it's just demolition derby with a superpowered flying mutant instead of a car.[/HEADING][/footnote] to victory) as their gameplay basis, it's easily Mirror's Edge. Rather fluid, pretty immersive, and it's actually about parkour in it's purest sense.

Well, I've grinded most of the way through the second assasins creed in the past few days and, given that I never finished mirrors edge or liked PoP (at least the latest one wasn't particularly to my liking) it would be the obvious choice. It wouldn't be mine, however. I'd choose mirrors edge, despite not completeing it (I played on PC and scored a wonderful bug that erased my savegame completely towards the end, I wasn't keen to restart it), as the OP said, it is the most satisfying.

Also, I've been playing AC2 on my PS3, and I really hate the dual shock controllers (I could've got it on xbox 360 but that creates conflict as father 'borrowed' the console and uses it for DVDs, it's also on the family tv and is way too much effort fight my family for). Had I been playing it on a system with a less retarded control I may have liked it more (my hands are far too big for the playstation controller, which is why I hate them, don't bother responding and telling me they are the best, they are my least favorite and no amount of flame is going to change that).

Mirror's Edge and PoP seem the most parkour-ish to me, but my fave of the two is ME. Who can forget jumping from one crane to another, thinking there's no chance in hell you'll make it, and you just barely land on the other side, dumbfounded as hell and excited by your seemingly impossible accomplishment.

With A. Gent from Crackdown.

Why sit stuck in a traffic jam when you can get out of your car, pick it up and Parkour your way over rooftops, carrying your car to your destination?

However, when you can effortlessly climb a skyscraper, sprint at 50mph, leap hundreds of feet to other rooftops and choose to fall from a 50 story building and stomp through a car or person, is it even Parkour anymore?

A Crackdown agent's superhuman toughness, athletic prowess and agility rather takes the skill, risk and sport out of it, but even if it technically isn't Parkour, Crackdown was still the first game that allowed me to experience and appreciate the freedoms that Parkour gives people, and it made me look at a cityscape in an entirely new way - no longer were roads and back alleys the quickest route from A to B.

True, metallica is great, but I was hardly expecting system to be easy to sing. Especially their debut album.
