Well I've seen other versus threads in the past and they haven't been banned as far as I know.

Alex because he can absorb Cole and then use his powers. I don't know if that is how the game works because I haven't played it yet.

He doesn't absorb to get his powers, he gets them when the plot demands it.
He does get the memories of those he absorbs, but that's not really a good thing.

He didn't even try to hide that he was never going to say one was better than the other. Comparing them in a video will probably get him(and the escapist) a lot more views though.

Well, before I watched Yahtzee's review I saw countless others showing how ruthless Alex's powers are. He can do a lot of things, but Cole can only use electricity. After watching Yahtzee's review I believe Cole would shoot an electric bolt, Alex would jump over it, and then Alex would eat Cole as he landed.

It is being focused into one point in time and space. If it is at a width you can properly avoid it by jumping because it would be like rope. Now if it was sent out in one giant spherical pulse I would agree with you that you can't jump over it.
