Well, it's coming out this year, and i think the dev's of Bulletstorm should take note if you want to create an outrageous experience that awards points it should include the following:

(taken from the blurb on the game's Steam listing)
Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and defend yourself against a highly-trained military force using only a sex toy, igniting a city-wide war that will set Steelport on fire. Strap it on.

Anyone else thinking this is going to be the craziest sandbox of all time!??

I'm not looking forward to it that much, if it's anything like Saints Row 2 it'll be full of gimmicks that get boring after 2 minutes, vehicles that handle exactly like the rest, a poorly designed city that looks bland and shit shooting elements. It tries too hard to be outrageous, or over the top.

They fucked up the multiplayer in SR2 as well, it was so much better in SR1, no idea why they even contemplated removing gamemodes like Protect Tha Pimp and Blinged Out Ride.

Meh, anyway, I'll see how SR3 progresses, I doubt I'll get it though. GTA has and always will be a lot better in my opinion.

In the words of the Halo fanboys in Awesome Reach:

"Ready? READY. DOESN'T. EVEN. ****ING. DESCRIBE IT!!!"

This is gonna be so god damn awesome.

This every word (apart from the bit about SR1, having not played I can't really agree). Its good to know I am not the only one far, far more excited about the next iteration of GTA.

Good call on the shit car handling (note car singular they all handle the fucking same) and bland city.

Having said that I may pick up SR3 when it drops to about the £15-£20 mark depending on the critical and gamer response to it.

Insurance Fraud, Hot Fuzz and Septic Avenger were fantastic game modes. Plus, the cars in GTA4 handled like a unicycle. The only mildly interesting thing I found on GTA4 was the Mafia Work multiplayer mode.

I'm looking forward to it, wouldn't mind playing the first and have just completed the second.

I'm looking forward to it, me and a friend completed Saint's Row 2 in co-op, we're hoping to do the same with SR3.

I personally love how tasteful and well-written the trailer is. The witty dialogue is a fantastic biting commentary on many issues that need to be addressed in society today and the acting is actually pretty damn good. I surprisingly mature departure from the Saint's Row that we grew up with.

those guys really seem to have stepped up their game from what I've seen. (unlike Bioware with ME3) This is going to be epic, and there's a possibility it might even not be stupid.

I actually really enjoyed Saints Row 2 and it's really not my kind of game by any stretch of the imagination. It won't be a priority for me but I think I will get 3 eventually. Getting ME3 Skyrim and a new PC will probably put me out of pocket for a while :p

In all fairness, I should really give one or both of the Saint's Row games a try before I judge. But really, from what I've heard, it's just too wacky for my tastes. I mean, I prefer GTA IV to any of the earlier iterations, so I guess that gives me a rough idea that about where my preferences lie.

Just to clear, I believe one can easily enjoy and appreciate both games; that's a legitimate response too and I don't want to suggest otherwise. I just don't think I could.

Saints Row 2 managed to sate my thirst for insantity and over the topness which my dead copy of GTA San Andreas left behind. I looked at GTA IV but it just didn't stand out from other titles available anymore. I if they only include the grappling hook from Just Cause 2 this will be my 2011 GOTY.
