There's been a bit of contraversy regarding the quality of todays cartoons. If you said new cartoons sucked in say, 2008 or 2009, then I'd agree. However since 2010, we've been seeing a resurgence in quality cartoons. We still get duds here & there, but I'd say cartoons have come out of the creative rut that's plauged them from 2006-2009.

However, which of these children/family networks have the worst Cartoons so far?

Cartoon Network - There's some bad shows on there like Johnny Test, Uncle Grandpa, Annoying Orrange. But Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball, and Steven Universe have proven to be quality work. The only real issue currently is their horrendous scheduling with Action oriented shows.

Disney Channel - Disney is hard to say because they really don't have many cartoons right now. What the have though is Excellent. The problem? The keep avoiding airing good shows like Gravity Falls and fill their daily schedule with obnoxious, un-funny, laugh track filled, pre-teen sitcoms.

Hub Network - The Hub has proven with My Little Pony and Transformers Prime that toy based cartoons don't have to be cheap, glorified commercials with no substance, and can stand amoung the big boys. Top it off with WB reruns, and some interesting shows like Dan Vs., you get a unique lineup. However, I've been having an issue with their scheduling lately. Ponies and Pet shop are played a little too much on a normal weekday. Now it's not as bad as Nickelodeon with SpongeBob (more on that later), but I would like to see them diversify the schedule a little more in the future.

Nickelodeon - Nick is by far the worst IMO. Not only is their scheduling atrocious with everyday feeling like a 8 hour SpongeBob marathon. But most of their current stuff sucks. TMNT and Legend of Korra are great, but then you have the endless stream of soulless DreamWorks and Rabbids cash-ins. And obnoxious surreal buddy commedies trying to emulate Cartoon Network's success with Adventure Time & Regular Show. Forgetting what makes them great shows. Sanjay & Craig can be entertaining, but it has too much gross out for my tastes, and I haven't seen Breadwinners yet, but judging from the promos, I don't want to.

So those are my opinions on these networks and their animation lineup, your thoughts?

I voted for Cartoon Network for one simple reason: Their programming schedule includes live action shows. I just saw that as a disqualifying factor but I do agree that the good Cartoon Network shows are more abundant are more enjoyable (to me anyway) than anything Nickelodeon has on offer. Honestly, I would say Boomerang is the best cartoon channel and if CN didn't have live action shows I wouldn't have voted for it. I can still watch Spongebob but I can't marathon it in the way Nick shows it and I've loved what I've seen of TMNT. Also, to play devil's advocate, The Penguins of Madagascar isn't a terrible show in my opinion. I would take that before Breadwinners (I've seen a few episodes and don't know if I kind of like it or, really hate it).

I only really watch HUB for MLP and nostalgic cartoons like Batman, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, etc. Then there's Disney...they have two channels but neither one acts like Boomerang does for CN. What I mean is, Disney has a back catalog of great cartoons that they just plain never air anymore. I like Gravity Falls but I can't tell you what I'd give to be able to watch Darkwing Duck, Ducktails and, Disney cartoons from decades long past. Yes Disney, we know Goofy used to smoke but his sports cartoons were always excellent!

Honestly, Nickelodeon or Disney XD both take the cake. Except they have to share it while giving each other passive aggresive glances over the table.

Nickelodeon or however they're spelling it nowarays because, yep, the only thing that's good is Spongebob Squarepants... which hasn't gotten a new batch of episodes in a good long time. Everything else is filler. Back to Spongebob.

Disney XD because last time I watched the channel it was literally atrocious in every way possible.

Cartoon Network, however, gets a pass. How the fuck is Johnny Test at all popular? Well, at least it's self-aware. Sometimes. It's ugly, cliche filled, irritating, and its animation has somehow gotten worse. And it's also a hipster, somehow. But Adventure Time, Gumball, Regular Show, and Flapjack - although finished - are all quality shows.

There are still some things I despise about Disney. There are many shows I can remember as a kid, so I just want a little bit of that magic that kept me from the medicine cabinet. They could also do with airing a few more movies. Damnit, I know Disney Cinemagic exists. But that sucks except for The Emporer's New Groove and Lilo and Stitch re-runs.

What shows are live action on cartoon network? The only one that can arguably fit into that category is annoying orange and that is debatable. I vote for Disney channel because right now they only have 1 animated show, Gravity Falls, which rarely airs so they might as well have 0 animated shows.

Chances are we are not going to be getting any more actions shows any time soon. The fact of the matter is that kids nowadays are not as interested in action shows as us older kids are. I presume most people of the escapist are in their late teens and older. We grew up on action and love it dearly. This generation grew up on comedy and is more akin to it. We would have TONS and I do mean TONS more action shows if us older kids were a reliable viewer audience. But we are not. This goes for all networks not just cartoon network. Here is a homage to some greats we lost in recent years:

Symbionic-Titan
ThunderCats
Generator Rex
Green Lantern TAS
Young Justice
Motorcity
Tron: Uprising
Kick Buttowski
Beware the Batman

Hopefully I got them all.

...I just checked and it looks like they're all cancelled...Destroy Build Destroy, Dude What would Happen, Level Up, Incredible Crew...All cancelled! Damn I wish I could undo my Cartoon Network vote now...Uncle Grandpa and Annoying Orange are horrible but they're not bad enough.

Mmm hard to say really. From what I've seen and read, my vote is mostly going to Cartoon Network (follow closely by Nickelodeon).

The Hub is the newest channel so it doesn't got much of a legacy to the other three.

I admit I ain't a fan of the Disney channel to begin with when it first aired. Sure I do like their old shows like 101 Dalmatians and Recess but it didn't hook me in like the other two (Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon). I used to liked them for having The Spectacular Spider-Man and Avengers: World Greated Superhero but then they messed up season 2 and cancell it in faour for Avenger Assemble. Granted the only good shows that on that channel is Gravity Fall and Wonder Beyond Yonder

While Nickelodeon has fallen from grace but I can't really say much about them other than they are only good for TNMT and Legend of Korra. I assume they still showing lived kid shows like they always do (no idea if they are any good).

Cartoon Network got the worse offender when they starting putting in more lived shows than cartoons. Which part of Cartoon Network didn't the excutive didn't get? From what I read the head excutive didn't like cartoon and was favouring more lived kid shows in their channel. Sure they got more good cartoon to the other channels like Adventure Time, Regular Show and Steven Universe (and aswell Sym-Bionic Titan, Thundercats, Young Justice and Green Lantern TAS and DC Nation Short) but it is a pale comparison to the amount of cartoons they used to have in the 90's/ 00's. Not even Adult Swim is enough to saved Cartoon Network.

Totally disregarding anything live-action and movie premiers?

Well, Cartoon Network does have some shows that I hate more than the other channels, like Johnny Test, MAD, and Annoying Orange, but it also has some of the best cartoons of all of them, like Adventure Time and Regular Show, so I'm kinda torn with it. However, Cartoon Network also has Adult Swim, and therefore Toonami, and in that regard it probably has the best lineup of shows.

Nickelodeon, however, besides Legend of Korra, don't really have any shows worth caring about, and the shows that I once liked has gotten worse and worse, like Spongebob. The only thing that catches my interest is whenever they rerun an older Spongebob episode, so out of all the channels, it the least impressive.

Disney probably has the least amount of cartoons, but the ones that's on there, like Gravity Falls and Phineas and Ferb, are solid. Not a big fan of those new Mickey Mouse shorts, though, they're a bit too... demented. I haven't seen much of Disney XD, so I can't say how that's doing.

As for the Hub, outside of MLP:FIM and Transformers: Prime, there's not much else notable, or at least I haven't checked it out enough to see what else they air.

So for the worst, I'm gonna go with Nickelodeon, mostly because it's just a whole lot of nothing.

Hm...out of all of those listed, I think the one that burned me the most, and therefore gets my vote, is Cartoon Network. Now, each channel has it's good shows (save for XD, because I've never even watched it), but Cartoon Network has fallen the farthest from what it once was and has fallen the hardest. Barely any cartoons now it seems, and those they do show seem to be constant reruns. I miss my Toonami, and I will never, EVER forget what they did to Young Justice. Curse you for that, Cartoon Network.

Nick gets a close second, because I am tired of Spongebob. So very, very tired. And while I liked Fairly Odd Parents, we need new shows. How about you bring back reruns of Hey Arnold, or Rugrats, like TeenNick does late at night? Also, I'm tired of Sam. The actress herself is nice, but her character is just...ugh. Someone needs to put her in her place and she needs to grow up.

Adult Swim really doesn't have anything to do with Cartoon Network these days aside from being under the CN umbrella like Boomerang. Adult Swim is pretty much its own entity now. It has its own website, its own ratings report, Its own web pressence, its own staff, its own scheduling practices, and its own programming management. Turner even considers them separate networks.

I'm aware of that, I just thought its inclusion on the station is still to CN benefit, and even on its own CN still has some shows worth watching.

I just realized that I don't follow cartoons anymore and am becoming an adult D :

/sad

(says the dude with a pokemon avatar)

Actually it's probably more to do with the fact that I don't watch much TV in general anymore unless it's on Netflix.

Either way I literally can't answer this poll, but I can comment that anyone who says "cartoons these days suck, 90s were great etc etc" don't seem to realize that they have big nostalgia goggles on and are judging current shows by a different set of standards than the ones they used to judge shows when they were 10.

And Annoying Orange is on TV now? somebody shoot me

Edit: voting cartoon network because Annoying Orange

I don't understand why people think CN still has a lot of live action shows, it doesn't. It has Incredible Crew, and the Annoying Orange Show (if you count that as live action) Honestly, my vote is for Disney XD, because they don't really have any original cartoons that are still airing. They had Motorcity, but the cartoons they do play, that I like, are Phineas and Ferb and, I believe, Gravity Falls. Maybe Disney Channel only plays Gravity Falls, I don't remember. I watch all my cartoons online now.
