Because seeing too much hate gets annoying and the flood of the emotion over time turns a normal cynical and civilized human to become spiteful and angered over anything

Maybe, but I for one get sick and tired of hearing what everyone hates, esp. since they tend to be blatant assholes about it, and esp esp. if it happens to be something I enjoy too.

I had actually planned on making a similiar thread some weeks ago, but I got lazy, and Deadliest Catch was on.

The daily "what you think is over-rated" and "Why --- is a bad game" topics are why, for me atleast. It gets annoying, plain and simple. Then again, I'm cursed with being a Halo fan.

Ahem.. Thats why.
Peace is a lie; there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

I'm a straight white male, it's my god given right to hate everything and everyone, and thus I must hate people who hate things.

That's a joke.

For example, in the case of the "Why the hate on rap" thread, pretty much everyone in the "hate rap" category showed at least some degree of ignorance. While, opinions are to some extent subjective, a statement like "all rap is bad singing about guns, bitches and bling and requires no talent" is provably false. I think its important to open up a dialogue on these issues.

I personally don't believe that opinions are entirely subjective. I believe that while you can't tell someone what they do and don't like, it is possible to have a meaningful discussion about the relative merits of different peices of art. If the matter was as simple as "all art is entirely subjective", then every critic would be out of a job, the entire philosophical branch of aestetics wouldn't exist and any statement concerning art would be meaningless. Whenever someone says "all art is subjective", I think they should forfeit they right to ever talk about art, for the sake of having a consistent argument.

I'm just saying that they do serve a purpose. So I guess, I'm hating on your hate thread hate thread.

follow that logic in the real world, and you just mind-fucked yourself. that said, tehy do serve a purpose, but that makes them no less fun to mock.
