I got it because...because...well...erm...actually I have no idea why. The COD series has always found its way onto my shelves one way or another. I still think Black Ops is the best so far, then World at War then Modern Warfare.

Well, Black Ops was actually the first COD game I baught, with my own money. W@W and MW2 were my younger brothers games. I baught it because I was assuming the MP would be fixed, in comparison to MW2...

...I was wrong...

I bought MW2 after all the cheers for MW1. This game made me wish I could delete things off my steam list even if it didn't mean a refund. I have not considered buying modern shooters since.

I didn't buy it. I won a copy of it in a contest at my former employer, an electronics store.

Single player was... alright. Never really got into the zombie mode. Played multiplayer for about 20 or so hours, hit my first prestige, and never really bothered to play it again since I like CoD4 and MW2 better.

MW2 was my first CoD game, and I bought it to play with friends. I liked the MP well enough, but I wasn't really looking to buy BLOPS. However, friends bought it so I kind of had to follow if I wanted to play - plus, zombies. So I sold MW2, got BLOPS, and it was pretty enjoyable. However, I'm not getting another CoD game unless somethings change. Right now I'm more than happy with BF3 if I need to play a shooter.

Single player.

I've been waiting for Call of Duty to turn to Vietnam ever since 2003, when the original CoD came out, and even more after the expansion, UO.

And that's also the main reason why I gave Tryarch another chance to redeem themselves.
I really enjoyed the SP, up until it bugged out and I couldn't finish the campaign.

Big middle finger to you Tryarch

Because it seemed fun to me, mostly the single player. It looked like it would be a fun diversion with smooth action, interesting locales and an under-used setting. I wasn't disappointed, it was a lot more varied than I previously saw in a CoD game.

The multiplayer too was a pleasant surprise after MW2's mess. It didn't hold my attention for extremely long, but it was pretty well balanced and very varied thanks to the Wager matches.

I got it for the multiplayer because I enjoyed World at war a lot and trusted treyarch to deliver better than infinity ward. They did indeed deliver a solid game but it was around now that I was getting bored of Cod so I didn't play it much.

So I've been told that Black Ops is one of the top selling games in history. But why did you, Escapists, buy Black Ops? Single Player? Multiplayer? Zombies? Achievements? Or maybe just a fanboy (No offense if so)?

I bought it for zombies mostly. Same reason I got the DLC's.
Because my friends were buying it and xbl is a social thing for me. Having said that Treyarch always disappoint me with their "efforts". They seem to find a way to make flame throwers and dismemberment boring, thats the only thing they seem to offer over IW. Otherwise it feels like a poor copy of the IW year. I went back to Modern Warfare after a couple of months. I was equally unimpressed by WAW and entered the series at COD4.

Zombies bored me after 3-4 attempts. I can sit at home and stare out of windows for free.

Also, why do the treyarch games appear easier? COD4 I learned the game so my K:D etc was poor. My stats vastly improved on WAW, dipped for MW2, went through the roof for BlOPs then became quite average again for MW3.

Singleplayer was wacky and cool and i enjoyed the alternate premise of reliving the memories rather than 'go here and shoot this cause i said so' attitude of previous instalments.

Zombies are just zombies.

Multiplayer was good fun however could have done with a few tweaks to things

I don't get why people bash it so much to be honest...

I said others. I don't remember much of what my motives were before buying it, other than that it was the newest call of duty game. I didn't like the multiplayer much, but i did enjoy the zombies some and the single player because of how abandoned that time period was for games of this genre.

I didn't buy CoD:BO, but if I did, it would be for zombies. It's the mode I play most when I do play the game.

My best friend got it for me for Christmas!
I mostly (99% exclusively) play multiplayer though.
