Poll: Why did you get married?

Like to hear some stories from the married escapists.

Some of my friends are getting married right after college, some obviously have certain obligations to fulfill

I hope someday to get there though. I also want it to happend because we love each other.

Because it is a stupid idea.

"Here, lets spend several thousand dollars on a big stupid ceremony to get a piece of paper that proves we love each other. Then when in a couple years you cheat on me with some asshole "friend" of mine you get to take half of my stuff with you in a harsh and long drawn out divorce. Oh and depending upon what country/state I may have to pay your ***** ass alimony for the next X years."

Edit: Oh and just on this topic in general. You do realise this is a gaming forum right? 92.6% of the population has never even kissed a girl. And 4.13% of those that have are girls.

most marriages end like that because people dont understand how to work things out! people need to understand until death do we part

My wife's Canadian. I'm American. We couldn't have your typical cohabiting-independent relationship---the government wants to see that marriage license before they dish out green cards.

The fact that we are in love is why we are together---the tax and immigration implications are why we are formally married.
