I've played Okami a lot and i found out that not a lot of people actually play it, much less have even heard of it, so i'm just curious. If you've played it what was your favorite part of Okami and why.

I love Okami and my favorite part of the game is fighting the Kyuubi because when you wanted to use the Celestial Brush you had to do it quick or Kyuubi would use it against you.I also like the fight cause if you won you got a sweet new sword.

Okami is one of my favorite games, the brush is my favorite feature My favorite part is after you fight Blight and get to do all the side-quest in the city or explore the cost, I enjoyed it because the art was just wonderful (since I love Japanese art styles). I also love the fact you play as a wolf because I love wolves.

I loved it because it was a brand new concept and innovated on the standard hacky-slashy-platformy gameplay that a ton of games use these days.

-Funny
-Innovative combat system
-Unique art style.
-sense of speed oddly enough, I loved just speeding through large areas leaving peace and plants in my wake.

It was a great game. Liked Amaterasu most of those characters. I didn't find her annoying or out of place as some of the others.

On another note what was your fastest completion time? I mean from a new game start to finish. my shortest time was 18 hours and 42 minutes.

Because it was the single most beautiful gaming/storytelling experience I've ever had. The art was simply stunning, the characters and story were great, the dialog was well-written and funny, the music is incredible, the gameplay is polished... there is simply nothing not to like about that game: it's not my favorite game of all time, but it's probably the closest to perfection.

Ahem, avatar. Prior to playing Okami, Zelda: Ocarina of Time was my favorite game. Those games share a lot of similarities, but Okami is much longer and more unique game. The sad thing, like you said, is that it went largely unnoticed, so chances of a sequel are fairly low.
There's already another game coming out in the series for the DS. Okamiden I think its called.
You play what looks like a little baby version of Amaterasu.

Actually you're right. It's Amaterasu's child ,named Chibiterasu and is supposed to take place like a week or two after the events of Okami.

Okami is a GOOD Game. The combat is fast and intuitive, the music is superb, the art is breathtaking, the characters are unique, and it probably has some of the best bosses in gaming. The only fault I can come up with are celestial brush. It works most of the time, but at times when it doesn't it can get EXTREMELY annoying. Also I noticed the game start to get...less fun when you meet Orca but near the ending it did pick up. The games is kinda too easy as well.

I'd give it a 9.5. But what I really don't understand is why people garner it so highly. Okami is a good game. Damn good, but I never really noticed anything well...amazing besides the art.

Well i can't speak for everyone but i THINK that it has to do with the fact that since it wasn't done by a super-famous game company and the fact the release time was around the time Famous companies released their games not a lot of people got it.The gameplay and other aspects is probably a matter of taste.I praise it highly because of the culture, art, and the brush system.(although you're right about it not working sometimes).overall it was a beautiful change of pace from most games I'd played at that point.but hey that's me.

i didn't just like it for a character obviously, because the characterization in okami is fairly scant. it would have been a weakness if it wasn't so obviously deliberate.
i liked it for a few reasons:
- the art is beautiful, the enviroments a joy to play through.
- the paintbrush is not just a great idea, it is implimented wonderfully and imaginatively. i never got bored of using it.
- the gameplay is great, fusing action with the paintbrush and generally blasting it round the awesome environment.
- story was funny and charming

Everything about it. I loved the plot, the graphics, art, characters, fighting style, etc. It was all amazing.
As for a favorite character, it's a tie between Ammy and Oki. I love them both. :)
