Poll: Why do you hate bronies?

I don't understand the obsession, nor has any fan adequately explained it to me.

I'll give it a go then.

Out of a lot of TV shows and music I listen to, MLP:FiM is one of the few that actually seems to give a shit. I see shows like Family Guy which has a massive following, but with the laziest, most boring animation, no effort in voice acting, and countless phone-ins when they run out of ideas or jokes, that I appreciate when something is actively trying to better itself. Lauren Faust (the exec producer) said she despised previous generations of the show and wanted to redo it and strive for something great. I see that enthusiasm in every episode and I appreciate the show for what it's trying to do. They could have created another mindless turd and siphoned toy money through it, but they didn't.

That's my reason for liking it mind you, not a reason why you should enjoy the show.

So its got soul? That isn't enough reason for it to have all this fan following and brainless chatter about it.

I just don't get it.

I wanted to embolden "'my' reason for liking it mind you" for this reason. I'm not obsessed about the show but I do really like it, and that's my main reason for it. As for everyone else, I couldn't say, especially the people who are truly obsessed. I think they got caught up in the fervor of the show and can't take a step back and watch the show from an objective standpoint. I'm with you on that at least.

Aye. I like a show to be fresh and enthusiastic about itself, but...why? Why do people treat it like its the best thing ever? All I am told is its good; when I ask why the people I ask either shrug their shoulders or change the subject.

Its so frustrating because all of these people are normally smart enough yet go gaga over it. If someone asks me why Being Human is great, I'll point out the realistic characters, the superb writing and the soundtrack.

Odd...everything you justified Being Human with is the typical response with MLP, atleast from what I've seen. The characters are 100% consistent, the writing is never pandering and flows very well between the mane cast, and the songs from the show are infectious and lyrically great (see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyrAkwJ6WsY).

The people you talked to may just be in for the fad itself, which should help you filter out the more obnoxious members of the fan base. The more centered viewers should be able to list their own good reasons for watching.

It's whatever, you have your preferences and I have mine, but good God, I thought we were done with it. For a good few months there was nothing but pony threads on this website, and it was annoying, and it left for a bit. I just don't want that happening again just because of the fact that there's too much.

Enjoy your show, I might see what the hype is about one day, but it's over saturating a lot of websites these days. I dunno, that's just me

(being in europe.) but from what i saw, it looks like a solid kid show with a bit of being-aware of what your history is and i like that.

Anyway, this is pretty much the summation of what I feel about the subject. We're not hated nearly as much as I would have expected, we've really got nothing to complain about at all. The fact that people are even willing to discuss things with adults who like watching a cartoon about magical ponies is a miracle. The fact that 66.8% of people here don't hate us is far, far more than I would have ever expected from the internet.

Really we should be thankful, not annoyed.

(being in europe.) but from what i saw, it looks like a solid kid show with a bit of being-aware of what your history is and i like that.

Its on youtube if you wanted to wtach it, and if your in the UK it shows on Boomarand or some channel I though closed down years ago

you know something, i dont hate this weird pony obsession, however i am sick of seeing it come up constantly, not if its in a thread actually to do with it, because i can usually avoid them because they say "bronie" or something in the title, what i am sick of is you cant seem to go into a thread anymore without it coming up, and usually it holds no relevance to the actual thread.
also i do get annnoyed when i see people saying things like "you have to have watch atleast X amount of episodes or the whole season before you ca say the shows not good/whether you like it or not" its an argument i have seen far to any times and its a stupid argument

OT: Spam is spam, whatever it is about. Do I despise people for liking something that gave me a wtf face for the one episode I managed to watch? No.

They're so obsessed with mentioning it all the time. It's a cartoon that people of your demographic aren't ideally meant to like, but you enjoy it... yeah, so fucking what? You're not the first adults to like a cartoon and you won't be the last, so shut the fuck up about it.

It's just not a big deal! Hmm...maybe I'll watch an episode or two sometime. I still don't understand, but that might be because I've had no interest in it and find the hysteria annoying. Might be good just to see if I can get my bearings...

Just go in there with as little bias as possible if you ever get around to it, please? And personally, the pilot episodes aren't particularly good aside from setting up the characters.

Because being a dick is being a dick. At least on the Escapist, that's very much against the rules, and one can expect to be moderated for such behavior.

What harm are bronies causing in "Flaunting their love"? Where are they causing problems? They have a large presence, I'll give you that, but the worst they are doing is going, "Hey, I like this show. I am going to have my pony avatar and would like to discuss ponies if given the chance."

This is my problem with brony haters- there really isn't a good reason for them to hate, except that they chose to dislike the show. Usually for the "men shouldn't watch little girl shows" or "Its too mainstream" reasons.

Give me a good reason to hate My Little Pony, and a good example of bronies actually being harmful.

I never said I hated MLP, I never said that the Bronies were causing any harm. I just find the entire MLP fanbase to be the most annoying things in the world, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person that thinks that way. Are you seriously saying that there is nothing to hate with this fanbase? They are absolutely perfect? ........Okay

No, that is not what I am saying.
I am saying that I have yet to encounter anyone who actively hates My Little Pony for anything passing a legitimate reason.
I mean, Don't like sports? You had a bad childhood experience relating to football? Fine.
Don't like Dr. Phil because he promotes certain ideas you simply cannot agree with? OK.
Have a problem with the TF2 fanbase because you were continually banned for being a F2P player? Sure, I can see why you're mad.
But what have bronies done other than exist? I mean, really. I know they did cause some real bother on 4Chan or something, but in being relegated to ponychan, they seem to be in check.

If bronies DDoS'd your website, or something, than fine, there's plenty of reason to dislike bronies.Otherwise, I see as much incentive to hate on Dr. Who fans, Star Wars fans, or Pokemon players.

It just feels like people hating on bronies are actively looking for something to be mad about.

So I can't dislike a fanbase unless they have caused some harm to me? I can't find somebody annoying unless they stab me with a knife?

Well, sure, dislike people, things, whatever.
But you know the proper way to handle annoying things?
Avoid them if possible, and find a way to politely and respectfully make them be as intrusive as possible if you must be in their presence.

Bronies are all about being nice 'n what not, so if you don't like them, I bet they'd be extra responsive to, 'Hey guys, I know you're having fun, but could you take this pony talk elsewhere? I'm worried that this is distracting from the point of the matter. Thanks!"

I haven't seen a single person complaining about the brony epidemic ever try just asking nicely.

The first 2 episodes are weak in comparision to the rest though. I think the episode that gets the most praise is 25.
