Thanks!

But I'm actually a pretty cheery guy overall. Cynical, but cheery heh. Most of my gaming is done solo these days, though I miss going online and LAN parties with the squad

Mostly for entertainment and the IQ is significantly higher around here then mmo champ leading to more interesting discussion, especially moreso than the people who paste the bait threads on the other forum.

Habit, really.

There are some interesting threads, but those are few and far between. Plus, there are people who I really enjoy chatting with and goofing off with, and it's like cheers, ya know? Then again, those are in groups, and not so much around the forums.

In terms of forums, I just read the threads and watch people yell at each other for my own personal amusement. Popcorn sales have gone up in recently because of it, and I keep them in business. So, do carry on. :p

Because it's fun. Y'all are interesting people. Place itself is cool.

Been here since late 2010, trying to find another website like this just isn't going to happen.
I'm an Escapist, regardless of what happens and i'm proud of it.

I find it amazing that, even if only by two months on the dot, I've actually been registered for even longer than you! Time just flies, doesn't it?

It's a neat place for me to pretend people care about what I have to say.

And no one reviles me for it. At least not directly.

It's also the only place I've bothered trying. I skulked around as early as 2009, made an original account in 2011, lost the password and made a new one.

At this point it's mostly just force of habit. I suspect that if someone was to sneak onto my computer and remove the Escapist from my browser bookmarks I wouldn't bother coming back apart from when the new ZP goes up.

It used to be to chat and argue about games and assorted geekery since I don't know many people in real life who are into that (and the ones I do know are either into completely different stuff or are unbearably socially inept). I guess that still applies, but the interesting threads have dried up to a mere trickle. It's rare to see more than a few a week these days.

Because you need a cranky old bastard around to be cranky and old.
But mostly habit at this point.

Plus I kinda wanna hit ten years. I've never committed to something that long. :p

Four reasons:

-I check here once a week in hope that I would find that the fourms would be as active as they were from 2009-2012.
-To rage on the Mass Effect 3 ending if anything tangentially related to endings, videogames or sci-fi is mentioned.
-To have wonderfully civilized discussions with an aggregation of the most charismatic and well adjusted individuals to have ever graced this fair earth.
-I was banned for unknown reasons in the last days of 2015. The ban was quickly overturned, but not before all my posts were nuked and all avatars took the appearance of a young brown-eyed, brown-haird male with a awful haircut. As a result, I visit and post in this site periodically in hopes that the problem will have resolved itself.

I don't really have any alternatives. This is the only forum I've ever posted on where I wasn't immediately treated rudely. So, way to go, guys.

Because I'm board at work and the Escapist is one of the few websites that I can load up with my terrible old laptop (I think that is due to the lack of ads) and even then it struggles when there are too many pictures and autoplaying videos.

Well, I actually did stop posting on these forums a little while ago with no intention of coming back, mainly due to the godawful moderation (which kept getting worse and worse) and also largely becoming disillusioned with the site as a whole.

I only started posting again after the Wild West forum was added (ie: where moderation doesn't apply), and I tentatively started posting elsewhere on the forum again after there was a significant turnover of mods (arguably some of the worst mods this site has even seen either left or got fired, a little while ago, albeit sadly the damage to the forum was already done by that point).

I used to come here so that I could keep abreast of gaming industry news, inform myself as to the development progress of games I may be looking forward to, to read interviews with devs and reports on games I maybe wasn't aware of and basically to get a fix on what my primary hobby would be doing over the coming months and years.

Since Defy Media has drop-kicked all that out of the window in favour of 'Top X' lists and banner ads I generally come here to be entertained by that certain portion of this little community who take themselves wwwaaayyy too seriously.

It's the only gaming community of any size and reputation that I know of. I'm mostly here for Zero Punctuation, and all the news that crops up I can get from other sources (like Rock Paper Shotgun and Rooster Teeth, the latter of which has a couple of news shows).

I usually just see the "Latest 10 replied-to" threads and I contribute. I also tend to reply to stuff that directly affects me like various game updates.

Depending on the subject, either to educate myself, to express myself creatively, to connect with people, or to engage in mental exercises when talking about complicated topics.

There are a bunch of thinkers and arguers on the Escapist, so I'm rarely disappointed when I decide to weigh in.

Because I like this forum and the people here.
It is my main source for gaming news.
