I pre ordered Tropico 4 (off steam) because I had played Tropico 3 and enjoyed it as well as the pre order bonus was the first 2 games for free.

I like pre ordering from steam as some pre orders come with a free game straight away or give you some sort of free dlc without any hassles.

Well all those options in the poll relate to why I ordered Red Orchestra 2, the main reason I would pre-order is for say 10% dicount or something similar on my wonderful little steam

The only game I've ever pre-ordered was Duke Nukem Forever, and only because it was Duke Nukem Forever.

I had to get the Balls of Steel Edition.

I preorder for these reasons, exclusive stuff and my membership card. I'm a sucker for exclusive stuff like a limited figure, tin case and stuff like that. I buy my games from the UK game store GAME which I have a membership card. When I use my card to preorder I get double points and the more points I have the more discount I get to buy that game at a cheaper price.

easier to get the money in that way and some of the games i preorder are a ***** to get if you don't. Unless you want to wait 6 months to a year to find em. Or get them online. Neither of which appeal to me. Bonuses are exactly that. A bonus. The only game I preordered for the bonus was Bioshock 2 collectors edition so I could add to my vinyl collection. Though I do enjoy looking through the art book when I feel like digging it out....However its also just so that i can remember to get the game. since i get messages on my mobile saying the game is out this date...

I never pre-ordered to get something extra. I'd do that if I knew people would buy it out quick. Unless if I get a soundtrack, then again the games that come with soundtracks are songs you don't care about and the games with the songs you do care about must be bought separately.

For consoles, to make sure I get a copy.

For PC, pre-order bonuses and it's 5-10 bucks cheaper. But there's only been a few cases I've pre-ordered for PC (Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, STALKER: Clear Sky, STALKER: Call of Pripyat, Battlefield 3, and Doom 3.)

Hilariously, only 2 of those game actually had Pre-order bonuses.

The latest game I preordered not two days ago was Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I preordered the game due to the fact that I immensely enjoyed the first version, and want to ensure my copy is ready on day 1. After trading in the previous version for store credit, and using that toward paying off Ultimate MvC3 in full, which I did, I know that my game will be there for me the day it comes out.

I don't preorder games very often, and only then if I know I'll like the game. The fact that I am getting a preorder bonus for preordering Ultimate MvC3 is just what it is: a little extra incentive for buying the game ahead of time. That doesn't make it worth spending the extra money ahead of time entirely, but it certainly is nice. I love Capcom, and I love the Vs series. Therefore, I support the company with extra money toward my copy.

The fact that my game is payed in full already means that come November, I am basically getting the game for free. I can't wait.

Mostly cause my friends never have the cash to buy the games when they come out. So buy the time i have gotten at least 45% up the ranking system they would have finally bought the game. Also the pre order stuff tends to be a pretty nice bonus.

I generally don't pre-order. There are several shops within half an hour form my house that sells video-games so the only time I pre-order is when there is a pre-order bonus worth getting.

What game was that from?
It's going to be in Saints Row the third.

It's the car with the roof-mounted people launcher and the crazy pink cat face on front.

I wasn't going to pre-order it until I was told that was the bonus for doing so.

I don't get any extra goodies since I decided Gamestop can not have my money and give my money to Play N' Trade since that store is awesome. It's funny since the manager at the Gamestop I went to who was really cool was the one that told me to stop going to Gamestop. So, I guess it's a win. I only have Sonic Generations, The Legends of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Star Fox 64 3D. Sonic Generations does have a free DLC stage from Gamestop but it's probably on the disc judging by the files in the demo. I'll wait for SEGA to officially release it. Which is the Problem with Gamestop's DLC. The Captain Universe skin in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is on the Marketplace when Gamestop gave it out for pre-orders. It's just useless. My favorite pre-order bonus would've been the Sonic hat that came with Sonic Colors but guess who wasn't lucky enough to get one even though I was psyched to get the hat along with the game. My favorite pre-order bonus I guess would have to be the Street Fighter 4 head band, I guess. Also, long post is long. I was just trying to prove a point, I guess.

I don't.
And I'm surprised that so many people can be talked into handing over money for a game that they aren't going to be able to play for several months.
I can see maybe putting $5 a couple of weeks before the release to get whatever swag if you're a big fan of the series but some of these suckers pay for the entire game months before they can actually go get it.
Besides, most games now-a-days suck balls. It's got to be something really special for me to think it's worth paying for before anyone's played it.

I can always find games, the only reason I pre-order is for bonuses. The reason for buying is a lot more, but for pre-orders in particular it's only the bonuses.
