And that's why we don't see it as an option.AngryMongoose said:PCs have a far more open system. That's generally what I prefer about the platform.
There was a proper mouse attachment for the original Xbox. Caused massive problems for online where it provided massive advantages.
My PC FPS experience was with CS: Source. The best of the best played there and they really were on a completely different level. I'm pretty good at shooters, but they made me look like I was playing with my face. This isn't just one instance either, there were just a higher number of incredibly skilled players. I've never had that kind of problem with a console, in any game. I don't pretend to understand it, I'm just stating my experience with PC shooters.Techno Squidgy said:You're making it out as though there's some kind of elite class of uber keyboard and mouse warriors who decimate all other players so that no one else can get good. At least, that's the impression you're post has given me.
I'm primarily a PC gamer, so I'm not familiar with modded controllers, what kind of advantage do they give?
I don't like the whole, "most people don't stand a chance" bit. That's a touch ridiculous. I find it to be quite a level playing field for the most part.
Ah, CS:S. No wonder. The learning curve on that game is ridiculous, no wonder you struggled. I've been playing PC Fps games for quite some time and I still get absolutely wrecked at every iteration of CS.PissOffRoth said:My PC FPS experience was with CS: Source. As for modded controllers, they can do anything from applying full-auto fire to semi-auto weapons to eliminating scope drift. And they are very obtainable, despite the fact that they are a breach of contract with Xbox LIVE and PSN.
If you believe that it's fair to pit mouse against analog, see the link below:

If that isn't a study to prove that PC gamers just outclass console gamers, I don't know what is.
I'm not talking about a third party adapter, I'm talking about first party support.Stall said:You already can use a M+K on a console: http://xim3.com/
This thread is pointless. Try doing a google search or two before you make a thread over something that is a reality.
And? There is still keyboard and mouse functionality. How is my post pointless? Judging by your original post, you didn't even know such a thing existed.orangeapples said:I'm not talking about a third party adapter, I'm talking about first party support.
your post is entirely pointless.
yes, my topic and post are indeed asking about using keyboard/mouse on the consoles, but the main part of the question is why is it not allowed by the console makers. Giving the player the option out of the box; NOT buying a third party device that works by tricking the console into thinking your keyboard/mouse is a regular controller.Stall said:And? Seriously. How is pointing out that such functionality actually exists is pointless? I'm sorry that your post was just absolutely pointless, but don't insult me just because you didn't feel like doing a modicum of research before posting.
You CAN use keyboard and mouse on console. What is there it discuss?
Either way, it's made moot by the simple fact that you can get a keyboard and mouse to work on a console, regardless of whether or not it has native support on the console. It's no real different than using a program on a PC to trick it into thinking a gamepad is a mouse and keyboard.orangeapples said:yes, my topic and post are indeed asking about using keyboard/mouse on the consoles, but the main part of the question is why is it not allowed by the console makers.
