Simulator or game? Two different things. One could be an ultra realistic game which I doubt would sell all that well, the other could be a fighting game closer to the Japanese fighting games.Jay Parrish said:Honest question... why?
The graphics have the potential to be amazing, they only really have to detail 2 characters. Then some partial work on the crowd.
Sure they could go deeper with it and include bigger fights like 10vs10, or throw in some lions etc, etc.
I just want to know why no one has made a true gladiator game? The only one I can remember was "Road to the Colosseum" and that was back on the PS2 and had awful graphics and gameplay.
But it was still a great game, so with that said. Why has no one actually put time into making that type of game. Sure there are multiple other gladiator games but they all fall under at least one of the following problems:
- Dynasty Warriors syndrome, also known as D.W.S (Where it is a single individual pitted to endless numbers of enemies.)
- The game is just unrealistic where people are getting hit by a freaking sword 20 times and losing countless buckets of blood. Whilst the person hitting them is wielding "The super ultra lighting sword of death +25 fire damage"...
or...
- Lack of funding... the developers of the game did not have a large enough budget to actually make a AAA game of what they were attempting to make. (Not that there's anythign wrong with that, but sometimes it's just annoying to see the small developers making the good games while the larger ones make the repetitive yearly titles.)
SOMEONE, ANYONE... MAKE A GLADIATOR GAME!!! No lightning swords, no 10ft enemies, no hordes of enemies who all die in one or two hits.... you get my point.
Why have no developers tried it? I personally as a gamer believe it would dell like hot-cakes.
what is there not to like?, well exept for the lag.Jay Parrish said:You mean you aren't? *claps* Your are one of the few who play it because they actually like it.The_Blue_Rider said:Because thats pretty much a fighter? I dont think theres too much demand for a gladiator title anyway, so no devs have a real reason to play it
Btw its nice to know that if i enjoy Black Ops im suddenly a mindless sheep
You are running it with DosBox, right? Beyond that, I'd suggest asking for help on Abandonia, they're pretty sharp on issues with older games.Jay Parrish said:Sadly, I cannot get it to work. It says it won't run in full screen mode and asks me to terminate it, it won't give me the option to run it in a window.Eleima said:Try this game:
Centurion: Defender of Rome [http://www.abandonia.com/games/23]
There's not only a gladiator mini-gmae, but racing chariots too.
Any solutions?
