Yup, lately I have come to discover that in addition to buying diamond studded collars, high quality leather jackets, and other premium accessories for your pets. You can now get wigs for your dog (cats will come later). Here is a video:

And another (Longer and with David Letterman):

So yeah, would any of you be interested in getting your dog a wig? Do you think it's stylish in any way? Please discuss.

I know that dogs are vermin, but putting clothes or wigs or jewelry or whatever on them is simply animal cruelty. Hilarious animal cruelty.

Well I am unsure what I think about this topic. I, personally, find that the wigs look ridiculous. Though I consider the current trend of dressing up your pet, and buying them collars worth thousands of dollars is ridiculous. Yet, so many people partake in this activity. For reasons I have yet to ascertain. In the David Letterman video, the dogs do not look too keen on wearing these attachments. Not sure why such wigs are becoming so popular.

I'm curious as to why a dog would even have any desire to wear a wig. It's not like they have any concept of fashion.

They're animals, not Barbie dolls! These people scare me. I think we're going to see a rash of toy breed/owner murder-suicides if this trend continues.

I class that as animal cruelty.
It can't really be considered cruelty unless it causes physical discomfort for the animal. It may look ridiculous, but a dog has no concept of such things.

This is really stupid. Dogs don't need wigs. The only thing needed is a brain for the person who thought up the idea.

Stop treating them like humans if it was in the wild they would gladly tear your throat out if they could eat you.
This is such a null point though. You can say anything so long as you add 'if' beforehand. I don't disagree with the fact it's idiotic to treat them like people, but this statement is so redundant. No offence meant.

Well, this ^. I don't see any benefit in them wearing a wig. And actually I can't imagine them enjoying wearing it either - would be quite uncomfortable for them, yes?

And, above all, I don't want to be THAT PERSON: you know, the one who puts little outfits on their pets. I always feel sorry for the pets at that point, and to me it just doesn't look good!

No, god no. There's no reason to put clothing on a dog for fashion purposes. Anyone who does this is a demented person trying to fill a void in their life by personifying their pet. There's certain cases that putting a sweater on a dob might be a decent idea, IE a chihuahua in northern Canada, but in that case you got the wrong dog for the climate and it's cruelty even owning it. That being said, I do find it funny to put my hat on my mom's dog, he looks rather cute shaking it off.

One thing I do not fully understand, is why so many people feel that this is animal abuse. It's ludicrous yes, silly, unnecessary, but I don't see where abuse comes into play. I agree largely that such a person who would support the usage of wigs on their dog is filling some void at the dogs expense. Though I would not say they are abusing their dog, at least in my own opinion.
