Today i had a bit of an arguement with a friend of mine, she just bought the "Wii Fit" and was saying that it was great exercise, but i found that very doubtful, and the real exercise i know of in the game is stuff you can do without the "magic board". I think that you will get way more fun and exercise if you just gathered a couple a friends and hit'd the gym like every now and then... But i haven't actually tried the game, so i wanted to know if you guys have had any succes with the "Wii Fit", or was it just as i expect it is in most cases, you buy it, you try it, you use it for one week, and gets bored of it?

The diference betewen the Wii fit and a Gym is that...the Wii Fit at the end of the day is cheaper. :p

To be honest I did go to a Gym when I could go...and...its boring like hell. I never tried Wii Fit and dont know if it really works, but you can do the exercises in Wii Fitt at home and you dont need professional help.(In a Gym you need really need someone to guide in some exercises or you end up screwing them and end up damaging your health.)

Stil, it depends on who you go to the gym with, if you go alone i see it can get boring really fast, but if you got some friends with you can't i see how it can get boring. :)

And i agree with you on the fact that its easy to do alot of exercises (that you do in the gym) wrong, but the one you do in wii fit is impossibel to do wrong i mean? How many can fail in push-ups and running? :p

WiiFit's purpose is not for you to lose weight. It's main purpose is to make you aware of your current physical health, and is a good first step for people who want to become more active.

Many.

And really..going to Gym these days is just hype. You see many people that go to gyms that really dont need. I went to Gym when I practice sports, and gyms back then most of the time were for people that did sports. These days people go to the Gym just be thin and say they have muscle. In the end they end up being some kind of Arnold Schwarzenegger arbortion.
All you need to be fit is just a couple of push ups and a run once every weekend...not fork out rivers of money in Gyms.

The Wii Fit thing is just a hyper-advanced bathroom scale in my opinion, meaning that you'll use it when you first get it, and then put it away and only use it every now and then.

I see your point there.. But does this really make overweight people wanna lose weight? I was overweight myself once.. and i dont think that this "game" would have encouraged me anymore to lose weight than my doctor did.

Or do you think that kids wanna lose weight cause they can do it while watching a little guy runing on their TV?

True but like someone said the Wii Fit is to make people aware of their health. Ranging from kids and adults. If the game makes you want to lose weight or not well..that depends on you if you willingly to lose weight or not and not the game.

I use it on a daily base. To be honest, the only exercise I do is the free jogging, but at least that's got me on a hour and a half of pretty intense exercise every day.

I admit, I can just stand in the middle of the room and run on the spot without the wii fit, but it does a wonderful job of keeping you motivated.

See i don't have the wii fit "game" so i would like to know if you could tell me, how it keeps you motivated, does it have some sort of reward system or a score to beat or something? :)

"Wii Fit uses a unique platform peripheral called the Wii Balance Board. The game consists of 48 different sub games and activities. - some of which are not available until being unlocked by building up credits in the 'Fit Bank', including yoga poses, push ups, balance games, and other exercises. Furthermore, Wii Fit allows its players to compare their fitness by using Wii Fit's own channel on the Wii Menu."

"New activities can be unlocked by gaining "Fit Credits", which are accumulated in the "FitBank", a small piggy bank dedicated to keep track of time spent on Wii Fit. Minutes of Fit Credits are equal to the number of minutes doing an activity rather than the number of minutes of overall game play. At certain stages, new yoga poses or muscle workouts are unlocked based on the total time spent working out. Being the best at an activity with a 100% score, or playing an activity a certain number of times unlocks more rigorous versions of that activity."

There's a highscore system for each "exercise" you do, it shows the total amount of time you spend training (with small æsthetic changes when you reach certain amounts of time) and draws a nice graph of your weight. When you've gained weight, it asks you what caused the gain.

And there's this annoying character shaped like the balance board (I'm not making this up) which welcomes you when you start the game, and makes disappointed comment when you haven't been training for a while. Stupid as it may be, it works.

Result is not as good. As for how fun it is, it's an exercise game! You can only enjoy it so much before you realize "Wow, I paid a fistful of cash for something I easily could have gotten for free with weight-free exercises."

I don't endorse it, since you should get fit to have a long, healthy life. Not to have fun. It's also bat-shit expensive, when you could easily buy a set of dumbbells and do weight-free exercises for about the same prices.

Dumbbells will last longer too, I promise you that one.

I don't have Wii Fit, due to the price and how hard it is to find, but I do believe it works in some regards. There are countless stories of children with health issues and elderly members of society having improved due to Wii games, especially Wii Fit (and Wii Sports).

If one adds Wii Fit to their day where they previously lacked any sort of exercise or needed a step more on top of their current regimen, it does help tone the body marginally. It also encourages a certain niche of gamers to start exercising, since it can now be considered a game. If one does an hour of Wii gaming a day, thirty minutes playing Wii Sports and thirty playing Wii Fit, they will - over a nine week period - loose literal pounds of weight.
