Wikipedia?

Do you like it, if so why?

Do you hate it, if so why?

It's handy, but for trivia more than real facts.

I use it if I want to know who was cast in a film or details about old games/films people talk about and things along those lines.

It's a reliable resource for facts that are obscure. Facts are typically unreliable for recent subjects or things commonly accessed by the masses regularly, such as consoles, video games, movies and some authors.
Things such as paradoxes, astronomy, psychology and the HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy are usually unedited by those who want to create chaos on the wiki.

I use it as my primary search engine as it filters all the crud and sales-linked stuff out of the 'net.

Who or why would you hate a refference source?

It has its uses, though its only one of my research tools for school stuffs.
People don't like it because it is 'unreliable' and 'anybody can edit it'

Which makes me pose the question,

It is the internet, what is reliable on the internet?!

as long as you try and find a reference for a piece of information elsewhere, you should be ok, but generally Wikipedia is fine

It's good, I use it a lot for university stuff.
But one must always keep in mind that Wiki is made by people like you and me, so you should always take things it states with a grain of salt.

just can't bring myself to trust wikipedia. I know too many knobs who think its fun to edit the info on it.
I never trusted it much anyway though. I'll stick with books. You know they are reliable. and its so much easier to reference

how can you like or not like a source of factual information? do you hate the library for having books at your disposal? do you hate the internet for allowing you easy access to information?

step up your game, escapist. this is way below your usual standard.

I like it as a starting point. Most Wiki pages will link to references. Get an overview of the subject there, then go to the references for better understanding.

I like Wikipedia. I don't trust uncited articles, and some articles are just covered in complete bias that a**holes adamantly push as fact, but it's not bad if you take it with a grain of salt.

I chose the latter option on the fact that it is a drug. Completely addicted to reading random stuff. Along with tampering with things for the hell of it...That's why you should also not trust it that much.

it's quite good, you don't often get incorrect information on purpose, and it's great for those last minute research tangents and english essays.

I love it, it's handy and full of interesting facts and information. I don't think Wikipedia is any more unreliable than any other internet site.
