Pretty useful for quick facts or general information. Useful starting point to find other references if researching something.

People are always going on that everything on Wikipedia is false. I say those people are idiots, because all their data is (normally) cited from other sources. How can we know that the information at the cited websites is or isn't wrong? It's no less reliable than any other website in the world, and it's much easier to find information.

It's useful for finding out things quickly, like famous events or films and stuff.

It's handy for finding references. I sometimes follow it's links to find stuff for essays/reports. Never tell your lecturer that though :D

I like the concept - an Attempt to get almost all of current human knowledge into one easy, manageable place for everyone to see and contribute to.

I often contribute, and look up some random things, and when they arent there, I MAKE THEM THERE.

Yes...I make wiki articles ^^

And I only ever f*cked up an existing article once, it was one on irish history and St. Kevin, I got bored of reading it (For a history/religion essay) and just replaces all the names and most of the nouns with the word "WANKER"

If I do so much as glance at one of Wikipedia's articles on one of the various celestial bodies or stars in the universe, I will be entranced for the next 18 hours and 24 minutes.

I love you Wikipedia, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't know that VY Canis Majoris is the biggest star known to man (Google image search it, you will be amazed). =D

Wikipedia, much like Google, literally knows everything.

Therefore, throw up yo arms! Let's hear it for the wiki!

just can't bring myself to trust wikipedia. I know too many knobs who think its fun to edit the info on it.
I never trusted it much anyway though. I'll stick with books. You know they are reliable. and its so much easier to reference
to quote a doctor "anyone can write a book, and fill its pages with whatever they want"

It is very useful. I use it as a starting point for anything I need to research; even if I need more info than the site has, it usually has links to other good sources. The only time it's fallen short for me is when researching specific people who aren't that famous (but do have their name out there).

Wikipedia needs to be taken a little more seriously. People going there to look up obscure topics can run into the disaster of believing some of the "lulz" and imbalanced stuff people put on there.

Back in uni, I was using Wikipedia to check the topic at hand and create a smokescreen and use the sources as they have. Saved me 5+ hours in research and my willingness to even be bothered to hit the books

I chose the second option.
While the fact that I chose that option should speak for itself, I'll just say that yes, it is useful. I don't believe it should be bowed down to like the god of the future, but it's still pretty good. ^_^

It's pretty useful really.

Obviously you need to go into detail if you want to know specifics about stuff, but people who tell Wikipedia off for not being specific enough miss it's point, imo. It's there to give you a general idea on what something is, not to educate you in everything there is to know about it.

Wikipedia is, quite possibly, the pinnacle of human creation...and, quite possibly, the downfall. For you see, if our collective knowledge is placed in one entity at a continuous rate, then that source has ultimately gained infinite knowledge. With said infinite knowledge, it is inevitable that the Almighty Wikipedia will learn to break all inhibitors and transfigure itself into a divine entity and enslave us all. So, be sure to pick up a t-shirt [http://www.cafepress.com/wikipedia] now - it will please your future overlord.
