I've never been one to harp on how awesome will ferrel is but this:

http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2010/05/will_ferrell_proves_astros_min.php

This type of real life prank reminds me of Remi Gaillard and i have some new found respect for Will Ferrel. It seems so much funnier when its Sacha putting on his suit and throwing his voice fucking with real people in real life rather than anything mencia or chapelle could do. I realize just how much the trigger happy tv style is better than stand up and sketch. What do you think is better staged comedy or real planned pranks?

I'll add some more options for the poll if anybody can think of ones that would be appropriate for the poll.

Yeah, I saw that, and it was hilarious.
This was one of his better pranks.
And for the poll, it depends. Some stand up comedians are incredibly funny, but some aren't.
When you are looking for comedy, it is normally a diamond in the rough type of deal.

I think Will Ferrell is at his best when he's a supporting character or villain, example: Mugatu from Zoolander, Police Academy movies, Austin Powers...

It's good to see I'm not the only one who thinks this. When he's the main character, well, the results aren't pleasant.

Still, he was Mugatu, which instantly nullifies any negative criticism I toss his way, plentiful though it is.

Thats just it tho i've never seen a prank that was tv or internet worthy that wasn't funny even the pranks that go wrong. However just the other day i was watching comedy central and they had a comedian that was horrible. She was a former raider's cheerleader and she was funnier then your average cheerleader, but she wasn't funny in the same way George Carlin, Robin Williams, or even new guys like Jeff Dunham and Ron White are. Actually i've seen a lot of duds on Comedy Central recently. The pranks don't last as long as a regular set of one of the great comedians but I always get a laugh.

He did very well as a lead in the Anchorman though.

Sorry, I don't find him funny at all. :/ Everyone has the comedians and actors they find funny. Will Ferrell just isn't mine.

Though, stand up comedy or sketch are my favorites, though I'm leaning towards stand up, I think...

That was Lance Kingsly in Police Academy, not Ferrell, I think.

Ferrel is hit or miss for me, but he certainly carried his cast in SNL. I can't think of a single other person in that cast who was funny.

Will Ferrell... ughh, no thanks. I enjoyed Anchorman enough, though it was silly. But Step Brothers is one of the worst films i have ever watched ever.

I don't understand what people like about this guy. Your poll should have had a choice reflecting this. Dumbass poop joke comedy for the lowest common denominator.

Garbage...he marked when SNL went sour in my opinion.

1) I don't care for Will Ferrell in the slightest.
2) Your poll lacks my favourite kind of comedy... BRITISH!

I'm not talking about individual sketches. I'm talking about shows like this:
