It will, but eventually the robots will take over and force us to play. So it won't really be gaming anymore, it will be survival.

And we'll relax by taking long walks in the woods, which we will then call "gaming."

So yes, gaming will go on forever. But oh how it shall change...

Stupid robots.

I think that it will live on forever, in the future it will probably involve full virtual reality, AI and the ability to design your own games by just thinking what you want, possibly just thinking of the genre, the characters and the story

The phonograph has all but died out. Radio is generally only used as a time-passer on the way to work. Entertainment is always being replaced by the next generation of entertainment. Video games won't die out, but, given enough time, they probably will become either obscure or completely changed. Compare television's first few decades to how it currently is like and you'll get the idea.

Gaming will exist for ever but it'll evolve in a way where humans in the future will see what we play on and see it in the same way we see cup and ball.

Yes. I personally think it's just a matter of time until video games become a form of media as accepted as movies, books, or television, or maybe even more so considering its interactive properties. Of course that's only so long as we gamers continue to popularize and defend it in the face of close-minded nay-sayers.

When the world runs out of resources and we all end up killing each other fallout style, and then the aliens come and find our fossilised corpses, muttering "ooh, i wonder what happened here" in there own regional dialect of Alienese, they will find our old games consoles and records of video games, reverse engineer them and then drift through space slowly through space, dying of starvation because they cant tare themselves away from that all important game of Halo 76. We will kill alien races. ^^

.....And by that i mean yes Video Games will live forever.

With Valve around, I'll say yes.
Oh you can tell I'm a Valve fanboy, yes?

I would love to play Left 4 Dead in VR, you know?
Left 4 Dead in VR would be *awesome*. Or how about we hope and pray for a real apocalypse.

I've actually been thinking about this. I'm certainly optimistic it'll be around forever, but then compare video games to a similar medium: comic books.

-Both were all the rage for kids in their respective decades (40s-50s and 90s-00s).

-Both were thought to be the devil by media and organized religions.

-Both weren't seriously considered art by the older generations. (yes, some games can certainly be considered art, but Bioshocks and Mass Effects are few and far between. Roger Ebert still refuses to consider games art).

While comic books certainly aren't dead today, they're nowhere near there old popularity and reading them in public will usually get you laughed at. Are video games doomed to the same?
