Simple question. Should I buy Fable 3 for the PC. I sold my share of the X360 to buy a PS3 two years ago. The X360 promptly RRODed on him 6 months later (LOLZ) :p

I like story-heavy games. I can take some game play faults if it delivers awesome story. Some of my favorite RPGs are:
All Bioware RPGs
Persona 3 and 4
The Witcher

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Added more poll options.

Give it a shot, its pretty different from bioware stuff though. Rent it and if you like the gameplay buy it.

I doubt it, this coming from someone who enjoyed fable and fable 2, Lionhead has a habit of producing games that are, in terms of story, underwhelming.
So if you're expecting a story or characters of the same craft as ME or DA:O you will be disapointed, fables strengths lie else where and from your list of favourites i doubt they're qualities you would apreciate.

EDIT: Seriously, i was the first person to vote "no", really?

Love Bioware stuff here too. Fable isn't really amazing for it's story though; it's a lot less serious, but I love it. Does the whole fantasy world thing really well and it's interactive enough to feel like IRL sometimes. Really strong in a lot of areas; find a review or something. Variety of stuff to do is amazing.

What? We're 8 votes in and nobody likes cake and/or pie? What is this world coming to?

Thanks for the response.

I'd say wait a bit. The Fable series so far has been rather mediocre. If you can, wait for the price to go down and grab it when it's around 45 dollars, then you'd be getting your money's worth (based on 1 and 2 at least).

Personally, I'm gonna wait for gamers to review it, it would probably be the safest bet instead of being disappointed again expecting so much and getting so little, oh look at that, it looks delicious!

I think the best description someone gave for Fable is, "it's an rpg for people who hate rpgs"
Did you like the first 2 at all? They were released on PC if you want to check them out.

Do you like impressing the ladies by farting? If so, Fable is your type of game.

If you like playing story heavy games, I'd just suggest Nier or Drakengard/Drakengard 2. They're pretty popular for having great stories and characters but repetitive(but still very functional) gameplay. Hell, I'd even suggest Final Fantasy XIII, the character development is amazing and the story isn't half bad either once you get past the awful jargon.

I've always seen Fable as RPG-lite. I'm not saying that as a bad thing. Truthfully, I liked the first two games well enough to preorder the Collectors Set of the third. The series in general always gives me the impression that it's more concerned with being fun and enjoyable then, say... hardcore...

While games like The Witcher, the SMT series and anything from Bioware focus on sending the player on a series of challenges, Fable has always been more a casual affair. Combat is incredibly simplistic, and really more a minor diversion then a major part of the game, often taking a backseat to elements that seem like they were pulled straight out of The Sims.

Really, it's nothing like most of your favorite RPGs, except for maybe Persona 3/4. Just imagine that the social elements from both have been made a major focus, rather then simple side-quests.

It's out. Where do you live that Australia gets games before you?!

Edit: my bad, time zones... I come from the future.

A) I live in Australia (a quick profile check would have shown you this).

B) I was making the point that no one can tell him if he will like something until he plays it.
My bad, I usually check these things but alot of people haven't got their nationality on their profile, I was lazy, and most of all, I was on an iPhone - which is a ***** to navigate on in my opinion.

Fair enough, I think he was kind of asking more, "Would someone who likes the following games be likely to enjoy Fable 3"

OT: I'm enjoying it so far, and I like bioware games, but I hated Fallout 3 (never played the earlier ones, I know it's not in the OP but it's a pretty commonly played game and I've not played the other games in the OP) I liked fable 1 but disliked fable 2.
Help at all OP?

from what little reviews and comments from people who got it early, fable 3 apparently has a stronger stroy focus and is more cinematic than 2. if nothing else, pay for a game made a company that actually tries to innovate in their games (even if they general fail at it); with the generic crap that the industry keeps shoveling out, letting companies know that new ideas sell too is the only way we're ever going to see any.

or that the next 50 bajillion action/rpgs rip off fable 3, but thats some progress i guess.
