No it will not... at least not in Australia... since it was banned!!! RAAAAAWR!!!
Well im the exception then! playasia FTW
*high fives* Play Asia Mortal Kombat importer fan club anybody?

Anyways, it's really good, but I don't think it'd convert people that don't have an interest in fighters. I've never been expert at fighters but am pretty good at Street Fighter 2, Tekken and BlazBlue. Mortal Kombat is always the franchise I loved though and this game is by far the best the series has ever been. It's definitely a lot friendlier to newcomers than others I've played.

marvel vs capcom is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more user friendly, over the top, fun, and features fighters that non fighters are aware of so, NO.

P.S It was that game that converted me to fighting games. Tried MK was bored within an hour.

It will absolutely not convert anyone. Maybe a masochist or two will pick it up. It's really good for that.

I own the game, and haven't traded it in yet... what does that say about me?

It's also a hell of a lot more balanced than "Ken VS Ryu VS Akuma VS Everyone Else", AKA SSFIV.
That's about as valid as me complaining that MK is just Liu Kang and Kung Lao vs the rest. Because those characters are the only ones I'm seeing online.

Just because shotos are popular doesn't mean they are the best characters in the game. Sure, your average shoto is a good character but the best characters in super are invariable charge characters. Currently the top-4 in AE looks like so: Yun, Yang, Fei Long and Makoto.

You're talking about competitive gameplay, I'm talking about run o' the mill multiplayer, and when it comes to that, sorry to say, 9 times out of 10 (and that is NOT an exageration) I'll be fighting one of those three characters. Its what drove me out of the game in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I love SSFIV, but right now, I either play solo or with friends, because online is, as they say, "deja vu all over again".

Yeah but that has nothing to do with balance and has all to do with people being scared of trying new things. That's exactly the reason we're playing the ninth iteration of Mortal Kombat instead of getting new games or sequels to games like... I don't know, Cyberbots?

If SF4 or BB doesn't covert you then MK sure as hell won't.
I didn't like Street Fighter 4 that much, but I did like Mortal Kombat. I'm not sure what BB is supposed to be an acronym for.

Take that Mr. Skeptic :D

If by "convert" you mean beat into a bloody pulp by the story mode and the multiplayer, then yes, they will be converted. This Mortal Kombat is not newbie friendly. I spent a lot of games being bent over a barrel. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go cry in the shower.

The best fighter of this gen, BlazBlue. Mortal Kombat is more for the spectacle.

wtf I have to learn kombos in a fighting game!?! This is bullshit I'm going back to the one where I kan just push a single button to win :p

I kid, but that's really the reason why MvC is "user-friendly"

p.s. I'm a grammar Nazi but I'll always make an exception for Mortal Kombat :D

Oh, I haven't tried it yet, but my friends very highly suggest that I do. As for MK being more spectacle, I will admit that at the very least part of it is. However, I still have fun playing it with friends

If Street Fighter of Marvel VS Capcom can't, then this game has absolutely no chance. Turning up the gore on a sub-par fighter does not make it awesome.
I think your answer is misinformed. I have played the new Mortal Kombat game and I think the fighting mechanics run smoothly. I wish it was a little easier to stream combos together and there are a few balancing issues, but it is still very enjoyable to play with my friends.

It also sounds like your argument is based off a pre-existing opinion or bias. While you are entitled to your own opinion, you should at least play the game (if you have not) before you judge it as being "sub-par". Especially since there has been so much content put in to the game to make it enjoyable (but now I'm getting into my own bias :p ).

u mad?

It's gory, it's OTT, it's stupid...

...and it's an absolute winner at a party with your friends. Gamers and non-gamers can all enjoy beating seven shades of shit out of each-other.

If you like button bashing and blood, get it. It's super, super fun.

I don't think so - I have a couple of friends who were really into the new Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom(?) who tried to get me into it, and it's they're still about as appealing as golf games are...

Maybe as a game to play at a party, but other than that zero interest (and I use to play Mortal Combat back on the Sega Genesis).

That's why I avoid Online multi in SF.

Guess who I use?

I'll guess... Akuma! :p

I use Vega myself. I even went so far as to buy his alternate costumes.
