Tv will soon turn into computers, which will be mounted as a touchable or remotely controlled screen, so, TV WILL be the internet. Suck on that.

It is happening already - at least on some level. Digital TV is a step in the right direction. Bandwidth and delivery systems are a problem. Eventually the TVs and cable boxes will just be able to plug into the internet, and become appliance devices.

Very likely. It's already happening now with on-demand sort of programs; I can go to the NBC website and watch the new episode of Heroes if I wanted.

A counter-point to this is that when content is uploaded by ordinary folks like you and me on places like Youtube, people try to crack down hard. If any of them succeed, it'll push back progress at least five years.

Just my two cents. Apologies Abound.

Answer counts, are you talking about the super internet we'll get in the future that can load the video in less than a second or the internet we are using. And what video resolution? If its futuristic internet and high resolution, HOT DANG I'll say YES.

I'd say in this house the Internet has already replaced TV. I don't own a television but I do own a wireless router and we've got two PCs sharing a 10-meg connection.

As mentioned a number of times already, this same debate happened when Television started to become more popular. People wondered why anyone would want to just hear a story when they could also watch it. This is when radio companies came-up with the idea of putting a radio in the car so that people could listen to music while driving.

So in short, as long as there's a huge company making a good profit off of an item, they'll make sure they find a way to ensure that the product continues to be profitable. So as the internet becomes more and more popular, television companies will continue to think of ways to get people to watch TV instead of watching it on the internet.

The internet has already replaced T.V. in our student abode. We're not gonna shell out ~£100 for a T.V. licence when the internet has T.V. and other stuff for basically free (monthly fee admittedly, but you can't play TF2 on your T.V.)

Something to add about PCs at home being used as TVs, or not.

One of my friends work for Ebuyer, a huge PC and multimedia distributor. She told me that the TV license people phone up every so often and obtain a list of people who have bought TVs AND graphics cards (mostly with TV capturing capabilities but not always). This is so they can find out whether or not you have a TV license and PHONE YOU UP!

Anyone else think they're a set of bastards for this? It's ONE thing if they just got the list of people buying TVs, but for ALL that buy graphics cards, that's a little too much if you ask me.

Not everyone will be buying things from themselves but they forward that information anyway. Bloody TV licenses!

I think the real question should be "what will replace the internet?"

now think about that for a second.
