I'm probably not buying one, unless there's at least 4 or 5 titles I can't get on PC that I really want. But that has more to do with mods.

Given that I bought a 360, I doubt it would have an effect though. And I respect the decision Sony made, they lost out because MS used Live to subsidize the sale cost of the 360, if they want to keep the price competitive with XBone, it's necessary adopt some of the less distasteful practices of Microsoft.

I don't really play online anyway, most of my games are single player or multiplayer for people in the same room. I might still get PS+ eventually though

With how much they've been ramping up how much they offer online even just recently on the PS3, I would be shocked if Sony were able to support their online services without asking for a subscription fee. Besides, PS+ is already goddamn fantastic, so there's little reason not to already have it.

I'm already more or less locked in to Plus, so I cant'see this changing anything. Not even on principle.

I'll see. It's a turnoff, but it has been good value. I have my doubts that it will stay that way. If it weren't for Armored Core I'd probably switch to PC, but I remain uncertain.

I'll be getting a PS4 for Kingdom Hearts alone. I may or may not get Plus, but it's not unreasonable: a minor downside to what seems to be a pretty decent system.

I think the bigger question is why WOULDN'T you want to pay for PS+?

I've been using the service for about two years now, and it's worth every penny. The service practically pays for itself within the first few months. Seriously, you get free games every month, for 12 months, all for $50.

And these aren't just shitty shovelware titles, either. This month in the states, you get Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Saints Row 3, Machinarium, Uncharted 3, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and LittleBigPlanet Karting.

In the past, we've had Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, InFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Just Cause 2, Darksiders, Spec Ops: The Line, The Cave, Vanquish, Bioshock 2, Borderlands, Demon's Souls, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, Sleeping Dogs, Plants vs. Zombies, and more. (Full list here: [link]http://www.reddit.com/r/PlayStationPlus/wiki/list/fullna[/link])

All for free.

And not only do you get free games, but you also get early access to betas, automatic updates (which is a godsend for PS3), game trials before you decide to buy a game, and 1 gigs worth of game saves at your disposal.

I can't wait to see what Sony does for PS+ for PS4. But I have a feeling there won't be that many free titles at launch.

---

...That was probably more of an advertisement for PS+ than it was me praising it. But seriously, this shit is guuuuuud.

I have been playing Xbox 360 online for many years now, so I am completely used to paying for online gaming. If that wasn't enough, I would pay it even if I wasn't used to it. Just to stick it to Microsoft.

Yeah, I can't let it go either. I don't care about discounts or temporary bonus games. Tying it to the online is a mistake in my opinion. No fee to play multiplayer was a big draw for me getting a PS3.

I don't really care about multiplayer and never have, so it's not an issue for me personally (unless Destiny turns out to be way, waaaaay more interesting than it looks so far), but...come on. This works out to, like, five dollars a month.

Five dollars.

Five. Dollars.

Last time I checked, you can't even get a Big Mac meal for five dollars.

If five dollars a month is a truly unbearable strain on your budget, then picking out a game console is one of the very last things you need to be worrying about right now.

I have a 360 and have only had an active Gold account for a few months between launch and now, and I've rarely felt I was missing out on anything. I see no difference with a PS+ membership. I may subscribe or I may not, but I really don't see how not having one is going to somehow kill my experience with the console.

considering that they give you I believe it's two free games a month just for being a + member and all the stuff that came with being a plus member for the ps3/vita. I won't give it a second thought. I was planning on buying a vita for persona anyway but the fact that the one fee goes across all three (even though my ps3 is broken so it won't help me there) platforms was just a nail in the coffin of planning to get the ps+. Initially I felt the same way of "gross now they're just making us pay for multiplayer what a bunch of a-holes" but all things considered I think it's a heck of a deal now.

I don't care about online play on consoles, so the cost of PS+ doesn't bother me. It is sad that they had to emulate XBL in that regard, though.

This is a cheap move by Sony.. but that being said, I will still get a PS4 (most likely). I'm already a PS+ subscriber, and I own a Vita, so it's extremely valuable for me. They literally throw you free games (good ones) at you every single month, and good discounts too.

The PS4 has essentially no advantages over a gaming PC anyway, so I was never planning on getting one even before this piece of bad news. In the hypothetical event that I did want it, though, I highly doubt this would dissuade me from my purchasing decision since I play games almost entirely single-player anyway, and thus simply wouldn't subscribe to PS+ (in spite of its other, commendable benefits; I'm simply cheap enough that even the free game downloads most likely wouldn't convince me, but it remains miles ahead of Xbox Live).

If the console gets games I care for, sure. I don't give a damn about online play anyway.

The question is: IF

I'm not very confturable with the whole PS+ idea, not to say its a bad service or that I wouldn't have gotten it if I had a PS3/PS4, but I just don't know how I feel about them MAKING me do it. Ya, XBone is worse but I don't have XBL either because fuck that.

Well they clarified that it's up to the publishers or whatever if they want PS+ to be a requirement for online play in their games. That being said I'm interested to see how many people will make PS+ a requirement. Overall though the xbox has been doing this for years so while it is a nuisance and a bit disappointing it doesn't stop me from going for the PS4 over the Xbone. And for me, PS+ is a more tempting offer than Xbone, it'll be even more tempting if my family and friends get it as well.
