Gunna wait til I see some reviews first. They will determine whether I buy it or just toss it on my Gamefly queue.

I won't. Not because I think it's gonna be a shitty game, but because Portal 2, Ghost Trick, 999, AssCreedBroHood, LA Noire, Deus Ex, and Arkham City are all coming/came out this year, and I can only afford so many games on release day.

And my backlog is huge enough as it is.

I love how people say "OMG GEARBOX RUINED IT" when Gearbox didn't make 95% of the game 3D Realms did.
Source? In all likelihood, Gearbox had to build it from the ground up.
OP: I was, then I saw the demo. Not a chance now.

No, I won't.

I admit I was never a fan of Duke Nukem to begin with, growing up in a post Halo gaming world I just couldn't see the appeal. It just looked kind of stupid, also any excitement I had died really early on when I first heard of that whole 'Capture the babe' thing, of which I still don't like by the way. It wasn't helped when people responded to the accusations of sexism with the standard 'shut up you feminazi sluts, nothing's sexist unless we SAY it is!'

I just couldn't get into it, the jokes sounded awful, the sexist imagery actually turned me off and when I actually saw the demo footage I was in awe of how uninspiring and uninteresting the whole thing looked.

What I'm seeing here is a watered down, standard looking shooter with crappy jokes and some seriously sexist marketting backing it up. I was never a fan of Duke in the first place but any fandom I might have gained met their gruesome end after seeing that demo.

I was also especially insulted when Gearbox tried to argue that the game had to be changed to be 'dumbed down for the consoles'. On behalf of console gamers everywhere, screw you Gearbox. Got to hand it to them though, you have to be pretty confident to casually insult two thirds of your consumer base, worst case scenario being that they become alienated from console gamers as a result.

Finally, Duke, Piss off with 'Hail to the King baby'... that was Bruce Campbell's line and he said it way better then you did. Plus, you die within seconds of being shot every single time... you are not a king.

But still, that's just my opinion and everyone is entitled to like or dislike whatever they want. If you want to play Duke Nukem, that's fine with me... I just can't say I have much interest in it.

I was going to, but then I played the demo.

Now I think I'll probably not. While there were a lot of cool stuff in the demo, the last part mostly made me cringe.

Nope.

It's insulting to see the developers just get it so wrong.

Regenerating health
Two Weapon limit

It's an old school ultraviolence franchise not a bandwagon jumping reelistick fps. Valve have shown you can have health pack based gameplay that is challenging but fair with L4D's director AI placing health packs based on how well you're doing.

The two weapon limit is ridiculous, my favourite fps is Timesplitters: Future Perfect on playstation 2. That had challenging, intense and fun gameplay, with healthpacks and a 1 weapon of each class system.

And not for nothing but... didn't Yhatzee review this game, like, 2 or 3 years ago... just sayin...
That was an April Fools' thing I think, that shit was funny. Or was there something before that? I dunno.

OT: I've already bought it, though I haven't played the demo. Can't say I've heard many good things about it, but most of that was just from hipster tools who hated on it simply because of the hype. I do agree that it's probably gonna get more love than it deserves just because it has Duke in it, but I'm gonna wait until I've actually played the game myself before I drop the rest of my ?0,02.

Although I will say that my fanboy boner for Duke still stands strong, so I'll probably be a little biased myself.

Broussard himself said that he came up with the two weapon thing. =p And Gearbox would've had all of half a year to make this game considering the announcement that Gearbox took over development came in September last year. That's a painfully short development cycle to make something from the ground up.

I had it pre-ordered, but then I played the demo and cancelled that pre-order. It's just that bad.

And I was really excited too :(

I never played the others, as I only started gaming a few years ago.
There are waaaayyyy too many other games coming out this year for me to buy it anyway.

So no, I probably won't get it

Im buying it, mainly because I remember buying Duke3d.

Saying Duke3D is nothing more than a ripoff of Doom is pretty stupid though. Back then, all FPS were Doom clones. Duke3d had something more though.
And thats why Im getting DNF.
For Duke.

I bet 99% of the people not buying Duke are between the ages of 15-25.

I've bought it and already pre-loaded the game so hopefuly I should be able to play later today.

I wasn't going to buy it...I was gonna wait till the hard-copies came down in price (recently got Bulletstorm for £13.99 in high street)or it went on sale on STEAM for nearer £20. But I figured screw it, I know I'm going to enjoy this game I'm not expecting the holy grail but DNF is going to be fun, wither it's a great game or not it's gonna make me crack a few smiles.

Welcome back Duke!

i judged it based on its advertising... which was basically tits. then you have the nostalgia on top of that... i dont think gearbox felt the need to make a good game underneath perhaps, which given what i hear about the demo, rings true...
so its a no from me.

Everyone I've spoken to says it'll be great... well that's just dandy it still doesn't tickle my fancy.
