So after the little Code of Conviction marketing thing that Ubisoft have been running, and the recent delay (uh) of Splinter Cell: Conviction, I've been spending a little bit of time on the official forums (not as a member I might add).

There seems to be a number of people who apparently know everything there is to know about the game, and they KNOW it will be crap because they've played the previous games and Ubisoft have now changed some elements (despite keeping the core of the game the same).

It would seem that in spite of their vast knowledge, they've read nor watched anything at all to do with the game - as everything they say seems to contradict what we've seen and been told.

Its a little curious why they then bother posting on the official forums when they absolutely hate everything about the game, but there you go.

So I'd like to know - will you be buying the game?

Personally, I think it looks fantastic and its a definite purchase.

I've always been pretty bad at stealth games, and splinter cell games are pretty much the hardest ones out there. I'll pass.

What Furburt said, it looks to be either totally awesome or totally awful, and I don't have any particular desire to buy it on release day anyway.

I've never been a huge Splinter Cell fan but this one looks pretty good.

The only thing that bothers me is how they put all the mission text in the environment. It was a really good technique for the flashbacks, but the text just looked stupid vertically superimposed over a curtain.

More or less, I'm just terrible at stealth.

Give me the option and I can blow everything up and go in guns blazing. I'm good at that, but when it comes to sneaking around it's usually 50 quickloads later before I make it.

I'm a fan of the series, of course I'll be picking it up.

It looks good.

Heck yes.
I love Splinter Cell, the the story-telling splashed on the environment is brilliant.
And co-op stealth action?
Sign me up.

I love stealth games as they are just the right pace for me, I don't like going in gun's blazing. Clearing out a room in a few seconds sounds like solid gold to me :)

Any game that lets me smash toilet sinks with a guys head is a game worth playing.

It looks slick, exciting, and fairly innovative (objectives displayed as part of the environment, the 'mark and execute' and 'last known location' mechanics)

I love playing stealth games, but a game that can pull stealth off well is rare. This game looks like one of them. The devs said they want you to feel like a predator, and from the game play movies, it looks like they've succeeded.

I'll almost definitely be getting it.

I've already pre-ordered the collectors edition. It looks to be different from the usual Splinter Cell formula, figured I might as well try this. I'll probably enjoy it.

I will be getting this game for i have played the Splinter Cell games since the beginning (with the exception of Chaos Theory due to lack of finding it for sale) and enjoy what they have to offer...i just hope Lambert or AD Williams isn't yelling my ear off again

No. I always found them boring compared to games with similar styles, yet the option to shoot people. Mainly Metal Gear Solid. While I don't mind Splinter Cell, I haven't found a game interesting enough to keep me going through the series.

I plan to play it at some point, but this probably wont be a release day purchase for me.

Of course that could all change if I see some positive reviews coupled with a friend recommendation or two.

Most likely. I've always been a fan of Splinter Cell, and this re-tooling looks fairly interesting.

Even though I'm a bit annoyed by yet another delay, I'm actually glad for that. It means I can set my sights on Bioshock 2 when it comes out early February.

This time, you're a lot more 'flexible' - for example, alarms don't sound the end of the level, they just evolve the gameplay.

If you haven't watch the gameplay vids, I'd definitely recommend looking at some on Gametrailers - its stealth, but not the traditional 'wait forever' to sneak past 2 guys, who you should be able to take out no problem were you that person in real life.

Well I'll bear that in mind, and I may try it yet.

But I'm really a take no prisoners kind of gamer, where the biggest gun is bestest and the more explosions at any one time equals success rate.

But maybe it's time for a change, maybe stealth might offer me something yet.

Hmmm...
I probably will buy it, as it looks to be a good game.
I played the previous ones, and they were fun, especially double agent.
So I am looking forwards to this game.
