Wolfram Alpha is launching today at 7pm CST (US Central Standard Time). So I'm just wondering what everyone thinks of this new search engine, will it takeover Google as the search giant, or will it fail?
Same, I just saw that they're featuring it on Channel 4 News here in the UK, and I didn't even bother to watch, so I don't really care much either way. I'll always use Google because I always have done, so this isn't going to change a thing for me.SharPhoe said:I've never even heard of it until this thread. Does that say something about its obscurity?
I'm amazed you never have its been all over the news because its supposed to give you much more accurate search results. So instead of thousands of pages with pointless info, you get just a few with all the info you need.SharPhoe said:I've never even heard of it until this thread. Really? I'm just about fed up with Google, because often I search for simple things and I get thousands of pages not relating at all to what I want.Trivun said:Same, I just saw that they're featuring it on Channel 4 News here in the UK, and I didn't even bother to watch, so I don't really care much either way. As for people watching the news, I refer you to my previous comment. That is, I do watch the news (not always, but that's Channel 4's fault for putting the Simpsons on at the same time as the BBC News at Six).Spirit_Of_Fire said:I'm amazed you never have its been all over the news because its supposed to give you much more accurate search results. I suppose the escapist draws mainly gamers who may not watch the news, (although I'm obviously one that does) but still there's bound to be people who have heard of it.
That's the same with every search engine, and Wolfram Alpha will be no different. However, I do like Wolfram for their Mathematica thing, especially considering I do a course in Maths at universitySpirit_Of_Fire said:Really? Well I guess I will find out in approx 5 hours time.Trivun said:Spirit_Of_Fire said:Really? In the basic sense you ask it a question, and it gives you all the web pages you need to get that answer. Unlike Google which just gives you thousands of pages not relating at all to what you want.Darkrai said:What is it?
