So, over the weekend I heard a 22 year old "man" use the arguement, "They started it" to justify his reasonings for going over to a fraternity house and vandalizing the shit out of it and stealing stuff. This pissed me off so much. To me the only excuse that is worse than that is, "I was drunk so im not accountable for my actions." So escapist, what arguement/excuse pisses you off the most?

I always manage to end up in bed with someone, be they guy or gal, whenever I get drunk.

Bringing booze to a party with me is not a good idea.

Dude! You're 14!

I hear the 'they started it' from my nieces and nephews all the time... and 'it was like that when I got there'

Just because someone is drunk is no reason to not hold them accountable for their actions.

COP: Sir, why did you run that stoplight and plow into that car?

Person: Because I was drunk.

Ya, does not work.

I hate the the God one, mainly because it's disturbing; it just means that person is really fucked up, and there's nothing you can do about it. I don't know about the drunk one; I have a lot of sense sober, but my goodness, I do the dumbest shit drunk. I don't usually say it as an excuse; I usually respond with a "really?" it's difficult to feel guilty for something you don't recollect.

I didn't say anything about not being held accountable. I'm saying the reason people do a lot of stupid shit is drunkedness, which directly contributes to idiocy. I don't use intoxication as an excuse, I say it was the reason I did said thing and take full responsibility for my actions.

When I said "in bed", I meant "in bed". I don't meant having sex.

What's wrong with sleeping with your arm around one of your best mates?

The worst one I get is when I'm arguing with one of my friends. Whenever I say something that should win the argument, he says "That's not the point" and changes the subject.

Doesn't work as an excuse, but it is the reason why he plowed the car. An excuse makes it alright; "I have to take a shit" - "you're excused." The difference is the following: "reason" is different from "reason not to be accountable."

In other words: reason is why you did something, and excuse is that plus ...should not be responsible.

What was meant was, "It's seriously unhealthy to be getting drunk on a regular basis at 14, you stupid little child."

Umm. Ok.

When I get pregnant, I'll give you a shout. And I'm sure all my friends are clean ie no STDs.

Wait, I did say I didn't actually do it with them. I only sleep next to them and sometimes, them on top of me ; )

That example doesn't work because drink driving is a worse crime than just reckless driving, but in a court of law you can claim 'diminished responsibility' due to being drunk, or even an 'intoxication defence' for other crimes.

It might not be right, but there is a legal precedent.

I think the "God told me to do it" is the worst excuse, because that's basically bullshit it's impossible to prove one way or another whether the person actually heard God's voice, whether they're just making it up of whether they're crazy.

I also think it reeks of having an overinflated ego, when people claim that their own stupid thoughts and ideas are in fact God talking to them.

I wouldn't expect such a young child to understand the intricacies of male/female relationships. ;)

Not on a regular basis, only when there is a party :)
