So... i play warhammer. Anyone else that does will probably, like me, have spend alot of time on miniature assembly. Yesterday i were putting together a old version of the lizardmen stegadon (the new one looks like its overweight... no... obese) wich is made of metal, and the damn parts just wouldnt stick together! So, i think the worst part of warhammer assembly is metal gluing. Do you agree?

No no no, God! Trying to fit 4*5 plastic miniatures together in a regiment is agony! That's by far the worst part about it, along with the fact that it's too bloody expensive.

Great fun, though, I'll admit that.

I went with plastic gluing. Right now I have twenty two armless guardsmen because I can't get their flashlights to go on right. I haven't had to do any metal gluing yet but because at the moment all I have is a Kasrkin squad and a Ratling squad I don't think there will be much issue with those considering the most I have to glue on those is just a single part.

The time, I suck hopelessly at both gluing and painting the figures, but I refuse to accept a sub-par result. Which means it takes me an eternity to get even one guy painted.

Time...

Everything else is really fun, but you finish it like 10 hours later and realise you were meant to feed your children or bang your wife or play some game touranment like 5 hours ago.

Gluing plastic to metal, that is by far the worst thing. I like putting together, posing, and painting my guys, but it seems like Games Workshop was much more conerned about making them look cool rather than making them stand up! (Maybe it's just a problem with my guys, the Tau, but giant pewter guns do not go on top of spindly plastic chickenlegs...)

Gluing the metal....because it always falls apart. Plastic glues fine, painting is the most fun, and occupying time is good in the summer hols. But gluing metal models drives me up the wall.

The arms kept falling off of my Vermin Lord, because it was an all-pewter model, and he was carrying big heavy metal implements at angles that did not support the type of joint they'd created for it (which was flat surface to flat surface, not a ball joint, which would've made a lot more sense). I had to attach his arm a half dozen times before I started painting, and then it fell off after I'd painted it.

I also have to agree about getting the Warhammer Fantasy regiments in straight lines. The guides are all like "You should probably figure out how each model matches up to the one in front of it before hand" but that's ridiculous, because if you pretty much can't figure out how 30 units are going to align without starting to glue at some point. And god forbid if they should get out of order.

That's what turned me off Warhammer Fantasy, the square base thing. Of course, when I chose Warhammer 40k, I went with the Tyranids, which are all fiddly little bastards in the plastic version. Oh, and have you seen the Zoanthrope? It's basically a big giant weight that leans off-center of the toothpick body that it rests on, which is all attached to the middle of the base by means of a very short peg-hole combination. And they don't provide any details or materials for weighting the base.

I've never had a store nearby that sold that many minature things... but I have a friend that worships them. He took a bunch of spare parts that had fallen off of other guys, stuck them together, and made a sort of zombie-thing with crazy tentacles bursting out of his body.

I really suck at painting, even when I'm working on something very large and simple.

I hate metal gluing as they take ages to dry and will fall apart unless almost dry (unlike polycement as it sticks together before it has dried).

I love plastic glueing models together. Recently I just glued together an Ork Stompa - it took me ages but it was fun.

As soon as I discovered washes I ended up spending entire days on tanks... turned out when you get jobs you cant spend all that time on tanks!

Wish I knew how to remove old paint from miniatures.
