Yeah, TF2 and L4D- as seems to be the popular consensus.

I also only bought Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for terrorist hunt with friends...so many wasted hours.

Well... I bought TF2... So I guess I would...

However, this usually isn't the case for games with single and multiplayer. I bought Bioshock 2 more for the single player, for example.

Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike: Source want a word.

AS does Enemy Territory and Battlefield 2/2142.

As a general rule I'm not a big fan of multi-player games, I rarely ever play MP games, usually only when I'm whined at by friends. I mainly play RPGs, RTS, 3rd-Person Action (like Assassin's Creed, Batman:AA, what's that genre's acronym anyway?), and other strategy games (Tropico for example).

But I voted yes on the poll because in the past I have purchased games solely for multi-player. BF:1943 on XBA for example, it was $10 and a few of my mates were playing it, so I hopped on now and then, for $10 it was worth it to keep them off my back ("we never play together on-line waah waah waah").

I also purchased a number of games second hand for living room multi-player, such as Halo 3 (managed to get for $25 almost a year ago at a garage sale), Dead or Alive, err what else? meh can't be stuffed going and checking, but a few. Most of them I only ever tried the single player a few times before they went firmly into the "for when I'm half drunk with mates around" section of the shelf.

But I don't think I'd ever buy a brand new $110 game just for the multi-player.

Yeah, Bad Company 2.
What's that? "Oh, because the crap single player didn't live up to the original in any way essentially making it a multiplayer-only game?", I hear you ask?
What single player campaign?
Why... i-it's multiplayer only you silly fools, Ha ha ha ha!

Yes. Counter Strike Source and Day of Defeat are two of my favourite games, not to mention TF2!

CS/S/CZ, TF 2, MW2 (never went past the second level of the campaign), DoD/S, WoW (Though you aren't counting it), BF 1942 + expansion, BF:V, BF 2, BF 2142, Fifa 09/10 (only play online or offline multiplayer), Killing Floor..I'm sure if I had a look through my games I could come up with some more.

See I think this is a silly question with all the TF2 people round here but eh what the hell right?

EDIT: Looking through at some responses, I must say it's quite silly to say it's not worth the money because it's essentially a long rental, I am 100% positive that I have put a lot more time (or essentially played a lot more) into each of the games I have listed (even the normal and source versions) than in any single player game (unless you're silly and count an mmorpg as single player).
I think multiplayer is what really makes a game worth its money unless it's something like LOZ, B&K, SSSV, HL/2, Viewtiful Joe, TES, all GTAs, any Mario game really, but while those have been more engaging, they have lasted a lot less time wise, and are thus arguably not worth the money by comparison.

.....What?

Don't judge me dammit!
Actually that game had better multiplayer than i ever thought it would, knowing how good it is in the past that would have been a deal for me.

OT: ummmmmmmmmmmm...... alot people here play TF2 so im gonna say alot of people are going to say yes. As for me, i proably would although i always feel a story is nice and i hate it when i feel im losing out on a story.

I think the only "multiplayer only" game I've ever bought is Team Fortress 2. And I didn't even begin playing that until I finished Half-Life Ep. 2 and Portal.

Left 4 Dead I played mostly with Bots, Modern Warfare 2 I bought because the first game was so utterly compelling as a single player game (Believe me, I was bitterly disappointed). Hell, I only bought Bad Company 2, a freaking Battlefield game, because I loved the quirky story line in the first BC's single player.

I don't play MMOs, I barely play multiplayer. Sorry, I've just been burned too many times by playing with other people, let me give you an example: The first time I played L4D on multiplayer:

Me (as Hunter): *Miss* "sorry guys, I haven't really played this game much.
Player 2: "god you suck n00b" /votekick
Player 3: "lrn2Play ******" /votekick
Player 4: /votekick

How about another, MW2:

Me: *knife*
Player 2: *five minutes of incoherent rage over microphone*
Me: "Hey, what's the problem"
EVERYONE ON THE FUCKING SERVER: "Knives are for pussies and faggots".

... I just thank Christ that I play on PC, because I don't think I could survive Xbox live.

I bought WoW, every expansion and I paid for it about 20 times so yeah, if it counts.
