For some reason, that kind of saddens me... Don't know why, since, you know: each his own. But still...

No, that's not a relationship, that's just friendship.

I wouldn't date an asexual, but there's no reason not to be friends with one.

Being a virgin, having had no girlfriend as of yet, and just being too damned curious about both things make that choice easy for me.

It'd be lovely to find an asexual guy to marry. I have no plans to get pregnant ever (adoption ftw) either. It's just kind of weird for me to even think about actually having sex... I just don't see it happening. And I'm perfectly fine with that. Aaah to find someone who romances you and isn't thinking of banging you...

The two of you get along great and develop feelings for each other, do you think you could engage in a long term relationship with someone even if the two of you will probably never have sex?

Nope, not a chance. Probably even being friends would be difficult. Not that I'm hypersexual or anything, but I've never met an asexual person who also wasn't extremely boring.

I don't consider sex to be a requirement in order to have a meaningful longstanding relationship. As such, this wouldn't be a problem for me.

I can get along with someone without considering them a friend.

Besides that I meant this scenario would be very unlikely in my case.

ive been attracted to an asexual person before and even thought about pursuing a relationship but then i remembered to me sex is one of those ultimate romantic situations and it feels like to me if you remove sex from a relationship it loses maturity becoming the equivalent to middle school level relationship, and i realized i hated middle school so i totally scrapped the whole thought.

P.S. Asexual people are some of the kinkiest people ive met which is really weird once you think about it.

As harsh as it may sound, I don't think I'll ever be able to have an intimate relationship with an asexual partner. A platonic relationship, sure, but that and sexual relationships are not mutually exclusive. After all, a guy has his needs.

One of my best friends is an asexual, aromantic person. He's a great guy to be around, and often, his views on what's considered 'normal' relationships are more mature and sane than anyone else I know. I often listen to what he has to say about the way I interact with people.

I don't know if I can answer this, since I'm not asexual but I am demisexual with a low sex drive. I would like occasional sex (every couple of months is fine), but I'm much more interested in the kissing and cuddling aspects of physical intimacy. Everything else can be taken care of solo.

Considering the person I'm dating may possibly be asexual though (we're in the process of figuring it out), I would vote yes on the poll.

Then... still probably no, because why would I want to be romantic with someone I couldn't sleep with?

Just to be clear, I do have an asexual friend. I would never consider any sort of romance with her, though.

I don' understand the question... How do you "date" someone you'll never have sex with? Sounds suspiciously like a friendship to me. In my experience romance is a prelude to sex so I don't know how such a thing would be possible unless sex was a goal. I mean am I just doing nice things for them and flirting for no reason? I don't get it so I'd say no. A relationship without sex is just a close friendship.
