No, I would not date the opposite sex verision of myself, however, we would probably shag our brains out when we meet each other.

If such a man existed, maybe. I've learned that too much sameness can be a huge downside though, that's why I look for someone similar to me, but not exactly the same. :)
You got that right. I mean if the one you're with is a complete copy of you then what the hell are you supposed to talk about?

I mean it's not like you can ask: "Hey baby, what's your standpoint on freedom of speech?" because you'll already know that it's exactly the same as yours so it would be completely redundant to ask.

I guess the optimal compromise would be that the person is different enough from you to make matters interesting/exciting, but still similar enough as to not turn the entire relationship into a complete battlefield.

As to the OP's question:

I'd have to kill that woman. There can only be ONE of me!

I'd do humanity a favour and shoot my clone. It's bad enough there being one of me in existence.

Now, see, we're probably talking opposite gender, but same everything else, like world-views and politics, and whether the toilet paper hangs towards you or away from you etc. etc. However, I have a resolution, that if there was ever more than one of me, I would have to kill it/them, because I know it/they are capable of doing the same to me, and no matter if I was the original or the clone, I am the one with the right to survive. And while this isn't the exact same situation, it's close enough that I wouldn't be able to have a stable relation ship with my gender-swapped counterpart...although, the whole idea of defying death by entering into the relationship would make it interesting, but ultimately not worth the risk.

No, because as Red Dwarf showed me, the other sex version of yourself is likely to make you realise the flaws you have, or be the exact opposite of what you are.

I'd find a link to the episode but I can't find it, I believe it is in series 3 though.

The increasing amount of replies that say no, I'll kill/we'd kill each other disturbs me. o.o

In my case... I'd say yes. I'd think we'd have a lot to talk about. I also think we would both doubt it would last. Or who knows, maybe this other me would be better adjusted than me. Maybe.

I've actually already met my female counterpart, but hilariously enough, she was a lesbian. True story.

If it weren't for the fact that I'm in a relationship right now, yeah I'd totally date the girl version of myself. We'd have so much in common, and she'd probably be the only black girl who'd like star wars as much as I do

Hell yes, of course I would. I'm a bit quirky anyway, so it's tough enough for me to find a girlfriend anyway (though I have more than enough girl friends, I'm sharing a three bedroom flat with two girls next month, after all...). And my ideal girl has a lot of my own personality traits as well.

In fact, give me an attractive female version of myself, who dresses like a goth, and comes from Ireland. Then my life will be complete :D.

I couldn't tolerate myself, I'd end up killing myself by the end of the day.

They say opposites attract.
Dating a male version of myself would be like putting two magnets together north to north.

We'd both be propelled backwards to a safe distance.

No, and this reminds me of a Seinfeld episode, in which Jerry summed it up quite nicely by saying:

"I can't date me, I hate myself!"
Or something along those lines.
