Sounds like the opportunity of a lifetime, but that is sooo not the route that I would chose.

I saw a slideshow by a guy who walked across Africa. He said that while there are some bad parts of Africa, most of the continent is peaceful and hospitable.

Now that I've thought about it a bit more, no, no I would not. I am perhaps the most non-threatening person I know, I'm white as the driven snow, and I'd be carrying $10,000 US while dirving through a few places where you REALLY don't want to be a non-threatening, white as the driven snow, American carrying $10,000 on his person.
