Activision has made reatably said that they might put in subscrition fees into the COD games. It is unknown if they will do it, but there is a chance they will. Now, would you play Black Ops or any other Call of Duty game if you had to pay more then the 60 bucks up front? Would you play if they only are asking money for skins or other micro transactions? Or would you play if they had the opition of paying for it all right now or going month by month service?

Edit: Actually, according to this article ( http://www.vg247.com/2010/07/19/infinity-ward-treyarch-debunk-pay-to-play-call-of-duty-rumour/ ) the two heads of both IW and Treyarch have said we won't have to pay to play. This does not rule out microtransactions, but I think it is more likely they will get more just with map packs.

Nope. To be fair, I'm not a big fan of the CoD series (I do like the Modern Warfares, and I do like the killstreaks, thankyouverymuch), and I have a 360, so if I have to pay more for online support, I'll just switch to another shooter.

Pay to wander around a map designed by MC Escher while he was high, while some thirteen year old from No Where, Wyoming is screaming in his headset about he's God Among Men in multiplayer, all while an AC-130 is trying to blow me apart?

MMMMMMMMaybe.

It's a moot point. Acti have said they won't be charging for MP. They'll just continue to sting you for maps and other DLC instead.
Just 'cus Kotick wants it doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Why would anyone pay to play a new CoD game when the best game of the series is free to play? CoD4 for life.

They said you won't have to play. They could give you one hitpoint and make your camo bright yellow unless you pay up.

Also, Dave Jaffe has lied in tweets before. Besides, I think the publisher (Activision) can make them do that, that was IW tweeting it, right?

Regardless, I wouldn't play. I only bought it to play with friends, and my one friend doesn't play anymore.

I'd play the single-player, but I'd never subscribe to the online mode.

Well. it's not to say they won't try for an MMOG. ButMP in standalone releases will be free. Map packs et al, won't.

Absolutely not. I don't play CoD as it is, because every game is a rehash of the previous one, but if they try to turn it into even more of a cashcow, then I am officially boycotting all CoD-related games.

They've already said you wont have to pay a subscription for Modern Warfare or Black Ops. This is confirmed by the developer's twitter pages.
