i like to think that i would give my life for a friend or family but i really don't know if i could willingly give my life, but i would almost definitely risk it for them

Same here, while I do picture myself sacrificing my life to save my best friend but I wouldn't know I would do that for sure. I guess it depend on the situation that will cause the death of my best friend (if it look painful to die from). Either way my cowardness or bravery will suceed the other.

I don't honestly know, and I wouldn't have thought many people here will either unless they're actually put into that situation. It's very easy to say you would, but there's probably going to be a significant mental block against it, especially if you know you have a good chance of dying.

That's just one of the situations most people need to be in before they can answer.
I would like to think I would, but I've never been in that kind of situation.

Also, just wait for all the "no, fuck other people, looking out for number 1 hurr durr hurr durr" posts.

I would willingly give it up for very few people, I would risk it for anyone not threatening to kill me.

I have risked it for a close friend and would always fight the "them or you!" scenario as if i was ever to say that it means i hate them enough to kill both and assume they would do the same.

A mixed response from myself... I'd give my life to protect my little sister or another small child or to save a large number of random strangers, on the other hand I don't think I could face certain death for my friends or other family members individually, I'd risk it for them but I love living very much and so certain death would be a no-no. I feel like a bit of dick for saying I wouldn't die to save my parents but I know that like any parent should they'd prefer me to live on rather than them.

If at all possible I'd rather kill for them, but I do believe I'd die for my loved ones. Strangers aren't worth dying for, but I think I'd risk my life to help them.

I can't imagine I would give my life up for anyone.

If its a stranger in danger then I can't imagine myself giving a fuck about them.

If its a family member or friend, I would end up hurting them by giving my own life away. Haven't really gained anything when one person puts his life down for another unless the one putting his life down is dead in a few weeks anyway.

While giving your life up for somebody else is noble it is far from the best option. My stance: take the third option; keep everyone alive.

I don't really care about my life so yeah. Doesn't matter if it's a friend/relative/complete stranger. If I could donate my organs like Will Smith in 7 pounds, that would probably be best (that way nothing goes to waste).

To be honest, there are too many factors for me to consider to be able to make a decision, but I probably would, provided it is worth it (or at least it seems worth it, as I obviously wouldn't know the result).

There are five people in my life that I would die for. A few others I'd risk my life for, but if it was a suicide mission I'd let them die. The rest of the world? Wouldn't even consider it. Not even risking my life, either. I'd have no qualms about letting a stranger die to avoid being cut, bludgeoned, or otherwise non-lethally harmed.

I think I would die for just about anyone, mostly because I like helping people and I've never thought twice before when I entered someone else's fight, this combined with the fact that I seem to be unable to detect when I'm in danger, well pretty much means I would do it because it would never pass through my head that I could die, so yeah I think I'd do it, can't really tell unless it happens, but considering things that have happened before I'm fairly sure I'd do it.

I don't know until I'm in the situation

I hope I would be willing to risk my life for anyone in need. I don't know if I could live with myself if I just let someone die without helping them.
