Poll: Would you like to see Yathzee try something new and stop doing ZP?

Even though Yahtzee isn't my personal free entertainment slave, I don't see much of this new "Other stuff" you people are talking about.

Chzo Mythos is old and finished before ZP even started I believe. Along with all his other games. His website hasn't been updated in new content since "The Expedition" from memory, and that was over a year ago. He has lots of other work sure, but the key word was new.

There is Mogworld, which I do need to check out sometime. Otherwise for those of us who can't show up to that 'ere bar there's only really a weekly video and a weekly article from Yahtz. And one of those has gone on so long the format of cynical brit talking over shock-humor and pun based imagery about a video game has become kinda tapped of all the creative area it can explore.

Yahtz is by no means my slave and doesn't have to care for what I say/even notice my existence, and on a functional level, it'd be much better for him to stick with ZP as he knows what he's doing and can keep a pay check coming in and that's fair, man's gotta eat.

I'd like to see him focusing on something new someday though, because I just feel like the entire premise of ZP is a thoroughly beaten dead horse, that is now a mushy meaty paste.

I feel like I've been ninjaed in the next sentence:
He has written a book, opened a bar with his friend, makes games(that are really FUN!...to hack) and does a whole ton of other stuff.

Anyways, I laugh out loud at every one of his videos. Even if I haven't played them I still laugh and he doesn't seem to hate his job or anything. If he did, he'd just leave.

I was very disappointed with the iPhone one. I play REAL games and I was expecting a review of a REAL game. That said I still enjoy watching the normal reviews.
I assume you think all Atari, NES, SNES, Game Boy, and the like consoles don't have real games too.

I'm disappointed with most of his reviews. I like REAL art, but he keeps reviewing video games! -OH SNAP!-

I have gotten tired of the Zero Punctuation feature really. I have been tired of it for some time, but I kept checking up on it weekly because it was kind of a habit. I can't remember the last time I really laughed at one videos though. And recently it seems Yathzee is getting tired of doing the same thing every week as well.

Keep in mind that i'm not saying that I know this for a fact, but him talking how he needs a break in his last review and the way he ended his last extra punctuation feature does give that impression.

I think the guy just needs a different formula to change things up, because this particular method of entertaining and expressing seems to have worn out it's welcome, at least in my eyes.
Maybe he could try being an author. Ooh, or start some kind of franchise! Or or or maybe make his OWN games!

I don't think he's been that good for a long while, but that's probably just the novelty of his shock factor wearing off. It's definitely a bit played out.

the only people I've taken the time to check out their site are robert moran, marion cox, moviebob and shamus young, and yahtzee just doesn't stack up to them in my books.

Oh and to weigh in on the comedy vs review point - it's always been comedy, I don't think that many people take what he says seriously, he found out complimenting a game was boring early on, and has just decided to slag off everything since.

nah, Yahtzee does many other things, he even does guest hosting in some new formed show or something, I don't really remember because I only watched it once and didn't really like it.

What I WOULD like are ZPs of older games, I'm talking System Shock or something. Oh and more LPs like he did Flashback ;)

I wish there was an option 3. I want him to try something new, but I don't want to see him stop ZP. I still enjoy it, but it doesn't mean he couldn't do something new.

He does other things, but I am getting tired of ZP. He seems to end up ranting about the things that annoy him instead of reviewing the actual game. In the Kane & Lynch game, he blatantly said the game was not fun at all. I find it more entertaining than most popular games released in the last four years!

I'd like to see him try something different.

But if you mean to say he should stop doing ZP indefinitely, then no.

But I don't see any reason anyone would't like to see him at least try and do something different, at least for a little bit.

They are real games. In what way are they less real than pac man or asteroids?
Besides, if I'm going to play a "real" (by which I assume he means lengthy) game, I probably don't want to do it on my iPhone. Honestly, the best games I've found on the thing are the ones that I can play from start to finish in minutes (i.e. Tilt to Live, Geo Defense etc). There have been a few longer games that I've enjoyed but they tend to be contained in relatively small chunks (GameDevStory - creating and releasing a game takes a few minutes for example).

I think that Yahtzee should do whatever the heck he wants. If you don't like his stuff, don't watch/read/drink/consume/absorb or otherwise intake it. People obviously still tune in to watch it and they don't all do it out of compulsion. I, personally, love his segments. Must be our similar Anglo-Australian sense of humour.

Like those things you play? On electronic devices? For entertainment purposes? Not meaning to nitpick, but he hasn't strayed and he did kinda explain why.

I'm not going to bother individually quoting all of you and separately addressing each point.

iPhone games are technically real games in the sense that a 5 year old making a hand painting is technically real art. iPhone games are just another form of casual games meant to entertain the average person. Yahtzee talked about a game where you cut flying fruit; that may be fun and entertaining, but it will never compare to anything like Half life or command and conquer.
