Talking with a friend, he presented me with a conundrum of game design. So, of course, I pass this conundrum on to you, Escapist.

What if you had an idea for what would, undoubtedly, be one of the worst games ever made? Would you not be compelled to make it?

Without giving too much away, I think he might have actually come up with an idea for one of the worst games ever. And is sketching out ideas.

So would you make it? Or no?

Yes I would.

The challenge in doing anything is to be something other than mediocre. It is just as difficult to be "The Best" as it is to be "The Worst".

Probably why William Hung got so famous.

Hell yes I would, a lot of peoples opinions as to what makes a game good or bad are just that: Subjective opinions.

So 'worst game ever' means worst game ever for everyone else but if it's my idea being made it might end up being the best game ever for me.

And yet so many people bought that game because it was awful.
Also this is the second time in a row I have quoted you..... don't get any ideas.

OT: Yeah I would, but that all depends on what would make it bad. Story? Graphics? Controls? Playability? some of those are much more determental to making a good game them others.

You can pull a Nintendo and make it just to spite the world, and still make profit off of it.

Consider the idea of a game with all four of those options deliberately beaten into a bloody paste by the designer, and you about have the concept.

I would make a game that was cheesy and idiotic on purpose, but I think I would still make it fun to play. Either that or it would be a game that revolves around an incredibly repetitive task and I would make the controls unbearably accurate.

Uhh, excuse me. I have taste. I would not be making bad games on purpose. The only bad game I would ever make is if it seemed like a good idea and I turned out wrong. I'm evil, but I'm not an idiot.

I would...in fact I already have. My friend and I put this crappy little 'whack-a-mole' type game called 'Sheep Hunter'. It just had some MS Paint sheep that would pop up in different places and different sizes and when you clicked them they would get blood spattered and disappear and you'd get a point. It had horrible graphics, horrible gameplay and it barely worked but it was funny as hell.

As long as I wouldn't lose too much money on it, I suppose I would. Just for the schlock value.

You mean E.T.

You mean Souplex the movie the game 3: This time we are just testing how shitty a game we can shove into your beloved franchise while still making a profit.
