You all seemed to have fun with this so here is another one. This time without superpowers, though.

Would You Rather?:

Kayak down dangerous rock-filled rapids with no experience in kayaking

or

Base-jump off of a cliff with water at the bottom without a parachute with there being a chance of massive rocks at the bottom.

I thought 'would you rather' questions were normally quite gimmicky or silly, but you have gone for a rather morbid/scary consideration here!

I have gone for kayaking. I acknowledge that base jumping would be over quicker if something were to go wrong, but it sounds like a stupider idea than kayaking, even with my lack of experience in it.

I'm not a strong swimmer and by 'not a strong swimmer' I mean that I would probably die instantly in both situations, if I even survived long enough to get into a situation where swimming was actually required.

I preferred the thread where I had the option of the power of flight.
Can I just pick that instead?

BASE jumping without a parachute is not BASE jumping. That's more like cliff diving or a really forgetful BASE jumper.

Well at least with kayaking I would have a chance...
"Base jumping" without a parachute at an unknown height towards water that may contain rocks has a pretty low chance of survival. If you manage to land incorrectly you'd break your body instantly upon touching the water and if you do then you'd probably hit the rocks. At least with kayaking I can just try to get to shore or just crash into the nearest rock as close to the shore as quick as possible.

I'll second that. I choose neither - I pick the hidden third option of flying. Always flying :D

...Alright fine! I'd probably pick kayaking. I think my chances are slim enough with the base jump; even discounting the possibility of huge rocks at the bottom. At least with kayaking I have a shot of survival... I'd just need to be pretty damn fortunate.

I find your lack of a bacon option disturbing. So I'll go with the "base jumping" option despite the lack of necessary parachute to call it such. If I'm going to go, go out with style... Do a swanton dive with enough flair to put Jeff Hardy to shame and hope that if the rocks are present, my death will be quick and painless.

Is that the same dive I used to make Lara Croft do in Tomb Raider from the top of her balcony in her home and proceed to break her neck at the bottom of the stairs?

Sadly this also lacked bacon. Although the mansion did have a meat freezer, which I would often lure Alfred (actually called Winston, but I called him Alfred) into.

Chose base jumping on the assumption that there would be a parachute. Because without a parachute it's not base jumping, it's just suicide.

I've never used a parachute before. So, base jumping summary: I have to get two things right. One, the timing of the parachute and two, the handling of the parachute once it's deployed. I have to get the former right at one instant in time and the latter needs to be right for about 20 seconds.

Kayaking, I need to do everything right with no experience for minutes on end.

Easy choice. Try me again when you have a real dilemma *theatrically derisive snort*.

I would have gone with base jumping had it actually been base jumping & not cliff diving, but since that would be a death sentence because I swim like a rock, I'll take my chances in the kayak.

Kayak. Even without rafting experience (which I have, however minimal) I can still swim, and gravity isn't my enemy.

Kayak because base jumping into water without a parachute would be certain death/grievous injury followed by death, rocks or no.
