While I'd love to see the reactions of some people, no.

I don't believe I have the right to cut off something a shit-ton of people enjoy. Besides, how else will I fuck around at work?

Meh, voted no. While it would be no great loss if it was gone, it is rather convenient for organising events, spamming my friends with pictures of cats, and keeping in contact with friends in different time zones without using email.

I'd click yes. Two reasons:

1. I hate Facebook.
2. Any site dumb enough to have a page that says "Do you want to shut this site down? YES NO" that actually shuts the site down if I click yes deserves to die. So either the button is real and Facebook rightfully dies for being so damn stupid, or it doesn't work and it didn't matter that I clicked yes.

Also, to the people who are going "OMG NO HOW WOULD I KEEP IN TOUCH WITH PEOPLE I DON'T BOTHER TALKING WITH ELSEWHERE HOW COULD YOU SHUT IT DOWN!" Facebook is just one social networking site. There are others, so please scale back the drama. You're acting like Facebook going away would bring about the end of the world as we know it, when in reality all you would do is just sign up for the next site. Remember, MySpace used to be the hip place to have a profile, and now it's about to die. These sites come and go, so if Facebook left, there would just be another to take its place.

You missed my point completely. I couldn't care less if you use facebook or not, but my point is that if facebook disappearing is such a "life changing" thing then the people who's life will change because one website disappears already don't have much of a life in the first place. A life that is centered around facebook isn't a life.
I understood your post perfectly. All because someone's life revolves around a website doesn't mean they don't have much of a life. How can you even measure someone's life? Your definition of a life will be different as anyone elses.
Hell, I can even be technical here by saying the absence of Facebook will effect most people's lives in one way or another.

Yes. It is causing a lot of social disconnection for people in the real world.
I believe you are right... I'm wondering if it'll become illegal for minors to use it. I actually think it's more dangerous and damaging to an under 18 than gambling. Teachers call it the scourge of education for a reason... and if they don't, they should!

I fucking love Facebook, but I probably would do it, just to see what happens...I mean, thousands of teenage girls would lose their collective shit, and there would practically be anarchy in the streets. It sure would be entertaining to watch, and no matter what happens later on in life, I could think back and remember that I was the one person who brought down one of the biggest web sites in existence.

Actually, I probably wouldn't click the window, because my personal experience has taught me that those kinds of things tend to infect your computer when you click on them.

I want to but I just couldn't do it because I can only talk to some of my friends via Facebook.

No, I don't get to decide what websites get to operate. If people wan't to use Facebook that is their business, whether someone likes it or not.

Yes. I'd click it. If it doesn't work, nothing happens. If it does work, I don't have anything to do with the site, so I wouldn't lose anything. I'd shut down Twitter in a heartbeat, too.

I wouldn't.

As much as I don't like it, the sniveling
people who do enjoy it can be distracted
while I ignore them.

Yes, I would shut down facebook given the chance. It has nothing to do with a dislike of facebook or any of that nonsense but rather that, were I given the power to do so I would simply have to take it.

An amazing way to contact friends both lost and old, it could be called sociopathic to make millions of people lose touch with peers otherwise never talked to.

I use facebook on a regular basis for a reason (funny that I don't have a phone), my answer is fuck to the no.
This. I don't have a phone. Facebook is my way of keeping up with/chatting with friends at different colleges. What harm does it cause by existing, anyway?

The answer is probably keeping a few bad 'game' companies alive. Also cyber bullying and scams but both aren't enough to over-power the reasons you and I stated.

But then again, people do die because of it. I guess it's not that big of a deal since the same can be said for practically anything from smoking to vending machines.

Now if I had a choice to get rid of companies like Zynga...
Yeah, the thought of the amount of internet ignorant people getting taken advantage of or the people who are harassed leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But then, the bigger the gathering area, the more scum is attracted.

I enjoy being able to easily contact my friends from high school. I'm glad I'm going to be able to keep up friendships that I had in high school, unlike my parents, who have only stayed in contact with a couple of their high school friends. If facebook did get shut down, everyone would probably switch to myspace. Now, do you really want people using myspace again?

No. I really hate facebook, and I will never get an account, but that is no reason to take away a massive site that tens of thousands enjoy.

Even though I do use facebook it would be fun to see people squirm. Guess it depends on my mood and how much I'm able to contact people without it. With AIM and everything else it shouldn't be too too difficult.
