As I'm sitting here, browsing, I'm composing a letter to a friend (on snazzy Chococat notepaper, no less). It made me think, Escapists.

In this day and age, how many people still write letters/cards/notes on bananas to people in other states? How do you feel if you get a letter from someone you know?

I like to write letters, and I send out Christmas cards to people I know every year. It gives me a sense of connection to them.

What about you?

Yep. I write letters. It adds a nice personal touch. And, most people get that warm fuzzy feeling when they get mail that is something other than a bill or a "to occupant" message.

What is this writing I'm hearing about, is that like a Tweet or something.

To be more serious I haven't written a letter in oh......10 years. There really is no point to anymore when a phone call is so much faster and more convenient.

Ocasionally. But I rarely contact anyone I don't meet personally fairly often so I'm not really the best to ask I guess.

I have a friend out of state who I converse with almost singularly in letters. I'm really bad about writing back in a timely manner, however. >__>

In fact, this last time, I completely forgot to answer at all. It was so long she thought she hadn't written, so she sent another letter. I feel rather ashamed about that.

I like receiving letters myself, because writing takes more effort and consideration then a phone call or email. It still has a level of formality to it that can't be matched, besides actually going to the person's house and sitting down with a nice cup of tea (or coffee).

Which reminds me, to reply to the aforementioned two letters, I'm actually going to use a calligraphy pen and India ink. Why? Because I can, and I need the practice. Those things are hard to use!

I write letters when I can, but when my quill pen is out of ink, I have to walk to my friends house and talk in person.
Really, I write them sometimes, but only if the message isn't urgent.

Ooh, I would kill to get a letter like that, lol.

I take my time choosing special letter paper for people, and writing with nice pens. It's always fun to take that extra time to make them feel good.

I write letters much more often now. In England I used mostly phones and Facebook.
Upon moving to Australia I use the phone a lot less to converse with my english friends, now I just use Facebook and the occasional letter if I wish to send a gift or a greeting card.

Eh...

Yes and no.

The biggest problem is that my hand writing is atrocious to the extreme and years of practice haven't fixed that. So whenever I get bit by the 'Write a Letter' bug what usually ends up happening is I'll type it out, print it, and then mail to someone.

Which kinds of defeats the purpose doesn't it.
