Poll: XBone Pricing and Release Date!

Not sure if this was added recently or if folks just aren't looking, but it clearly states the following:

"Please note that there are no official prices announced for Xbox One products. The price stated above is a placeholder. With our Pre-order Price Guarantee, you can order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price."

If they charge £600 in the UK, then its probably $600 in USA. They normally do a direct change in pricing and dont actually bother converting $ to £.

Thats not true, there's almost always some sort of conversion. The PS3 was £425 at launch not £599 and games cost £40 not £60

Honestly, with all the nonsense features that are included in this console, it wouldn't surprise me that the console is going to fetch a high price.

And that's another thing- Xbox live got even more expensive! So not only are you paying for a potentially expensive console with expensive games, you now have to pay more for your LIVE subscription.

You forgot the Kinect. That alone will drive the price up by quite a bit.

That said, I also don't believe for a second that the estimated price is anywhere near correct. Personally, I'd only maybe be persuaded to buy the One for probably less than $300 at launch assuming that there were no extra costs involved.

I won't buy one at any price. The only reason I would ever get a next gen console is because of Infamous Second Son, and is that on the X1, no so no X1 for me.

Certainly. The only way I expect there to be any One release at or near $300 ia if MS does one of two things. Either they release a contract version in partnership with a provider service (like, say, a cable company) or if they create a barebones version to go along with the regular "deluxe" version. If it's the first, which I actually see as fairly likely if not at launch then shortly after, screw that. Contracts with service providers are not good things, ever. If ir's the second, I would not be too offended at all. Most of what doesn't appeal tro me with the One is the extra ladelled on stuff. If there was a more limited version that is still functional as a games console, I might be interested.

Right now, it's ranging between ?100 and ?150 (so probably give or take ?20). So considering the one included with the Xbone is the "new and improved" one...

Yeah its not the real price! Should have realised that when the games are all priced at £90! I bet though that it will be expensive! £400 max! I expect consoles to be fairly expensive as they're supposed to last for years (though no modern console is giong to last the same length as the retro consoles as they're not built to last anymore).

That being said I'm amazed that people spend £500 on an ipad! Especially as it will be replaced the following year!

EDIT: The purpose of a console is that it is cheaper than a gaming PC and is, therefore, more casual friendly. But with a console more expensive than a gaming PC, there is no longer a reason to buy this thing.

If the price is accurate, it's unfortunate that a console manufacturer is basically inviting you to build a gaming PC that is far superior to the system they're selling in terms of graphical horsepower (and also happens to be a mid-high end computer). This is in light of the fact that the American version will likely be closer to 700 dollars as opposed to the actual conversion equivalent of what European customers are paying.

Yeah, even if the thing is 2 or 3 hundred dollars less then that(As a certain user with a Japanese wolf for an avatar has suggested), it'd still be far too expensive for my taste, especially since most (or quite possibly all) of the features dragging the price up are entirely useless to me.

Can I rant for a minute? What the HELL is so goddamned great about voice commands? You know how I turn on my Xbox right now? I walk 3 fucking feet and I press a button. Who looked at that model for device activation and thought there was something WRONG with it? Who decided that buttons had gotten too old and needed to be replaced? Are things like "buttons" and "walking" such a huge fucking burden that people are willing to spend something like $150 just to bypass them? I mean granted, the technology is impressive, but it still doesn't fucking DO anything! I could make a device that warms up hotdogs in 30 seconds by finding a warmed-up version of the hot dog in an alternate universe, and bringing into our universe through an inter-dimensional portal that only hotdogs can pass through. That technology would be really fucking impressive. But I can already warm up a hot dog in 30 seconds with my GODDAMN MICROWAVE SO IT WOULD STILL BE USELESS.

What? It wouldn't be a good rant without a ridiculous, nonsensical metaphor.
