The story so far: I've had my Xbox for about 6 months now and I have gone through countless sets of batteries, so I've decided to buy a rechargeable kit.

Trouble is, there are two different types that I can buy; the Play and charge Kit
Which can, as the name suggests, charge the pack while playing games,
or the Quick Charge Kit:
which can charge both of my packs at the same time and supposedly quicker than the P&C, but renders my controllers useless unless I have backup batteries.

Either way, I'm going to buy a black battery pack in addition to the white one that comes with each of these products, so I will have two packs, one for each of my controllers.

I've seen good reviews for both, but I wanted to ask the Escapist community what they think.

So, if you please, answer my poll, and help me solve my purchasing dilemma.

Play and charge. You don't have to wait until your battery is charged to play. I always keep my controller connected anyway. I don't see the point in wireless play, the controllers always seem to break a lot earlier than wired controllers.

Play and charge because you can well play while you charge. =p I have a play and charge and its worked fine for years. The charge pack on mine lasts about oh idk 15-20 hours of play before needing to be plugged in for like a half hour. But mine is uuuh about 4 years old so I'd expect newer ones to last longer.

Gotta go with Play and chage. My 360 is on my desk next to my keyboard, linked to my second monitor so the wireless aspect being removed isn't that big a deal for me. It lets me play my games while charging as well, and I've still got my battery pack around here somewhere if it for some reason fails.

it really depends how much you play your x box. I mean if you play it all the time and it is constantly on, play and charge is your choice because its always getting charged but if you are not constantly playing it then the quick charge is your choice. Also which ever is more convenient for you aswell, as the play and charge you will have to be reasonably close to your xbox and if your xbox is in the living room or something where sit far away from the xbox its pretty inconvenient. So.... it depends on you for what option you choose because ultimately it isnt going to affect anyone but you.

Hope this helped :)

It seems as though P&C is the general consensus, so I'll probably go with that. Thanks everyone!

Play and charge. You can still play plus I believe it doubles the value by letting you use your wireless controller on your PC as well.

I have the quick charge port and I've never said "man I want to play but my battery is charging" because they last so damn long, if you get the charge and play you might as well just get the wired controller.

Hmm... How long do your batteries take to charge?

Play and charge. Just generally easier and you don't have to wait around until it's done charging.

Although personally if you make your consoles controller wireless Microsoft should atleast look at what sony did with their control; wireless with a built in battery pack and a cable to charge it with when needed, meaning you don't have to spend extra money of things you shouldn't have to.

The cheaper version is to get four rechargeable batteries. Keep one pair charged and the other in the controller. You can also buy some more for other things such as plastic guitars and what have you. The play and charge only come in white (to my knowledge) so if you have a coloured controller they look out of place. Also a few of my friends have the charges but when they can't find a full one they can't find the little thing that holds the batteries (because they threw them away) and hence can't play until the things are charged which is rather annoying when I'm invited over for a game. If you use rechargeable batteries and have some plain batteries lying around you can always play. Plus the rechargeable batteries can be used for other consoles and gaming things such as Gameboys.

I would go for the rechargeable batteries.

Just go out and get some decent rechargeables. $30 or so and you can get 4 batteries and a "fast charger" (I don't know that it's any faster than any other battery charger, but the names on the box *shrug*). You don't know how often some random device in my house' batteries would die and I'd yank the 360 batts and throw em in as stand-ins.

Far more convenient, IMO.

Depends, peripheral games will require batteries anyway.
But other than keep rechargeables for backup and for them go for the plug and play. It can also make a control without batteries run like a normal controller.

EDIT- Hey, i just became an infamous scribbler... Wow i never thought that i would make this much posts.

I have both.

I also bought some more batteries because I was getting tired of purchasing AA batteries by the 8pk

Play and charge, who cares if quick charge will charge quicker you can't play while it's charging. God MS are rip offs.

I use Quick Charge, my roomate uses Play and Charge. Both work just fine, though he has more issues with his batteries getting corrupted. Though that might be caused by him over-playing his 360.

They take bout 3 hours to charge, but I only plug them in when I'm not playing. And again I've never encountered a time where I wanted to play but I couldn't because it was charging, and if you felt that that situation would happen to you just plug them in every night when you go to bed.
