He is a critic although not a very good one since he rarely tells you about the good things of a game but if he did then he wouldn't be as entertaining.

He reviews games for the Escapist, its the same as competing Networks, they may do the same story, wont always do it the same way

and sometimes Wikipedia wasent updated with the right information or in a timely manor, that and him doing a Reveiw on where he likes a game is rare

He calls games shit or good on his own opinion. If that doesn't make you a critic I don't know what does.

He's prgressive, basically breaking down what is great to us now into what it really amounts to. We are just eating Twinkies while Yahtzee reads the back of the box, sure we think about It for a fe days, but pretty soon we're back to eating Twinkies while Yahtzee sits alone eating Granola Bars, damn funny though.

He is an actual critic. Like he said at the Australian Game Developer Conference, a review is more consumer advice and a critic finds the positives but manly tries to improve upon their selected field by showing the problems. If we aren't told we are been an idiot we most likely won't change.

He's a critic, there's no doubt about that. I just wouldn't consider Zero Punctuation to be proper reviews as they focus much more on the negative aspects of any given game, for comedic effect.

He's more of a commentator than anything else. Yahtzee is very good at picking apart trends in games or ideas which people have used often, such as pointing out that Elves are now sterotyped thanks to Tolkein's works. That sort of thing never occurred to me before he shed light on them. He's very good at elaborating on parts of games that don't work well and how they should be improved.

I guess you can call him a critic, but it's worth remembering he's also in the business to entertain, so exaggerating ideas is also a large part of what he does. That being said, he's very good at what he does and I enjoy it immensely.

Yahtzee reviews games, therefore he is a reviewer. Stands to reason. Does he entertain with his reviews? Yes. Do I actually ever take his advice? No.
People would be a lot happier if they just had a laugh and left it at that. By getting so worked up because Yahtzee said a game is crap is just stupid. I disagree with him on many of his reviews but I don't go around screaming about it. I just get the game anyway and enjoy it.

Blindingly obvious fact is blindingly obvious to the point it is actually brighter than the sun.

I do often consider his reviews when I'm buying games, but you gotta try and listen to what he actually says about the game rather than his opinion of it. But I mostly watch them cos he's a fucking comic genius.

I think hes a critic but, like every other critic out there, I never listen to his opinion on games. The whole point in ZP is to slate games and give credit where its meant.

As for the wikipedia remember anyone can post on it so who ever put the other reviews up probably didnt think to but Yahtzee up :p

It's meant to be, that was my point.

No, he's a comedian payed to find the worst in games and rip it apart based on that. I actually cringe if I see a comment that goes along the lines of "I was going to get this game, but I won't now, thanks Yahtzee!"

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see someone find faults in a game other than "it's not photorealistic! NOES!", but it's also nice to see games being praised for what they do right occasionally. Torchlight was a fun (if not massively deep) game, but all we get from ZeroPunctuation is that you have to use a mouse - how many people were turned off because it never mentions that it's a lot of fun to run around killing shit?

Most people proably don't consider his show to be a review at all, including myself. It's fun to watch, but if you're looking for a review then most likely you wouldn't go to watch a Yahtzee video.

Almost certainly a critic. He has a opinion of a game and it can criticize.

Definitely not a reviewer. He doesn't review games as a such he just gives his opinion he doesn't help anybody with his episodes, which in my opinion means he does not count as a reviewer.

But anyway yey! I love Yahtzee. No really.

He doesn't do a good review. Because they're always Biased, but he still reviews them.

And he hates the wii. That makes him WIN!

I don't see him as a reviewer, and no, it's not because I'm a fan girl who doesn't like my games being bashed. It's because he is obviously an entertainer, and a brilliant one at that.

I don't place the words "critic" and "reviewer" as synonymous, and therefor I think the topic title is rather silly.

Otherwise, I respect him as a critic as I find his critique mostly to be correct, and at the same time, I do realize that even if he criticizes a game, it's not necessarily bad, it's just flawed. (Which, incidentially, applies to just about any game there is.)
