It's almost seems as though Sony's competitors are throwing up the white flag this year. Nintendo isn't doing much in terms of big Wii titles. Microsoft's big boom with the Kinect is starting to recede (you can buy a Kinect for $100 now, I guess cause too many families bought them and didn't realize they needed to live in a warehouse to play it). Also Microsoft lost exclusivity of Mass Effect and the Halo series is done (excluding the HD remake of Halo:CE).

On the other hand, Sony has a massive lineup of PS3 exclusives this year and the Playstation Move is catching up to the Kinect in sales (they're always sold out in Gamestop and they're not in stock at Amazon either). Plus the PS3 is pushing the move to 3D gaming more then anyone, other then Nintendo at least.

So it really seems like in 2011 the spotlights gonna be pretty much solely on the PS3. Oh, and I forgot to mention the NGP... oh well, the specs on that thing pretty much speak for themselves.

Here's a list of the PS exclusives I think are gonna be some of the year's best titles:
LittleBigPlanet 2
Killzone 3
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
inFamous 2
Resistance 3 (If I could only buy 1 game this year, this would be it)
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One
MLB 11: The Show
The Last Guardian
Sorcery
Motorstorm: Apocalypse
Twisted Metal

BTW I'm not a Sony fanboy. I have all 3 systems, but my I don't care about the Wii and the 360 keeps letting me down (RRoD twice, bought Kinect day 1 :[, price increase for Xbox Live)

Personally, the pc is my favorite to win. I've got both a PC and an xbox, and to be honest whilst the controller for the xbox is much more fun to use than a mouse and keyboard, you miss out on what can be for some games the best feature, mods (especially with Skyrim coming out this year). Plus not only do almost all games released on the consoles have a PC equivalent, there are also some excellent PC exclusives, most notable of which are newcomer Minecraft, StarWars MMO the old rebublic and Diablo 3, and of course suprising no one Blizzard will rake in millions with the continued success of World of Warcraft.

Also, I have a feeling I'm going to be ridiculed for this but what's the NGP?

For exclusive games yes the PS3 is dominating this year.

Besides that its pretty much tied with the 360 with success. If the NGP does very well than Sony might win this.

You do kind of seem like a fanboy as most of the best game release on all three platforms. I don't think this is the year of any platform.

Just because Amazon and Gamestop are sold out of move doesn't mean they are "catching up". It means that they didn't bother getting in much stock because nobody was purchasing them.

3D gaming is terrible and Nintendo are making way more of a push towards it than Sony are.
So little people have 3D Tvs that the statement is pointless.

Besides nothing will over-shadow Skyrim on the PC.

Strictly speaking in terms of exclusives for consoles; its a good year for the PS3, no question. As to if its better than the 360 this year remains to be seen.

Theres actually not alot of 360 exclusives [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_games_exclusives_%28seventh_generation%29#Microsoft_Xbox_360] that all of us at least know of, and out of the entire excusives list only GoW 3 is announced so far for this year.

It's also worth noting my face met desk when I noticed 8 of the PS3 exclusives are sequels and one shovelware.

1. I realize that a lot of great multi-plat games are coming this year, but exclusives tend to be system sellers cause they can only be played on a specific console.

2. Microsoft Kinect sales have become stagnant, while Move sales have increased, which obviously means that ,for the moment, Move sales are getting closer to where Kinect sales are. Especially if you factor in that used Kinect sales are plentiful, while most Move sales are for *new* units.

3. 3D gaming isn't "terrible", it's just personal preference. Otherwise Nintendo wouldn't have made the decision to base an entire platform around the concept. But I do agree that the sales of 3D TVs aren't doing so well, for the moment it's just too expensive/unstable.

4. Skyrim is about as hardcore an RPG as they come, and the PC version is bordering on stereotypical gaming cliche. Not saying that it's not going to be good, but it's DEFINITELY NOT FOR EVERYONE. Especially since the main audience of gamers these days are casual COD/Halo players.

It'll no doubt be different where ever you're from, but at my college Oblivon was absolutely massive, and that includes the CoD and Halo gamers, and to be honest we're not exactly an exception:
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/10/oblivion-records-record-sales-1-7-million-and-climbing/

I belive the current total is somewhere around 3.5 million on xbox alone.
For comparison resistance 2 sales are currently around 2 million.

If you're saying that The PS3 has the best games this year then I disagree. As long as Cave remains with 360 the best games will stay on Xbox.

But otherwise I can see your point. Microsoft would be stupid to make another Halo game and PS3 has a lot of games coming out. Even if I don't think most of them look very good.

I really think it might be. These are some of the best exclusives I've seen... ever. So glad I bought a PS3. I can't really think of any 360 exclusives that are coming out this year other than Gears of War 3. Everything else is multiplatform.

I can think of several. Though it's mostly non-mainstream Japanese stuff.

To be honest, neither console (I exclude Wii because it's almost all exclusive) has that many exclusives that I'm too excited about. There's a couple from both, I'm just excited about the games that are coming out in 2011, mainly the multi-platform games.

I don't know why you should count PC out of the running as a system.

In general, though, I think that from a software market standpoint the PS3 will be the best system to own this year. As far as success in sales, either hardware or software, it's far too early to tell, and going by companies the picture is even fuzzier.

Well that's the problem... I can't really get excited about something I'll never be able to play.

Wow peoples comments here are surprising.

Games like Infamous 2

Killzone 3

Uncharted 3

And all I read are "Umm none of the PS3 exclusives look that good anyway..." WTF games are you guys playing that blow these (and the many others I didn't show) out of the water?

you didn't put socom 4 up there..my most hyped ps3 exclusive this year =[

but nonetheless, ps3 is looking to have a damn good year most likely, they usually don't win out on multiplatform games, but they definitely are planting a flag this year on showing their stuff.

Hyperdimension Neptunia is the PS3's strongest exclusive this year if for no other reason than originality. It is shaping up to be a great year so let's just agree that the players win.

I think the PS3 is allowed extra points for getting Steamworks on Portal 2 AND having SteamPlay (got that shit pre-ordered instantly)
