People insult a lot of online FPS becuase they don't want to listen to little kids yelling at them, so they say don't buy it. But there is a button to void that, the mute button, do you know that you can use it?

I think a lot of people forget about it, then get angry that they have to listen to little kids yell at them.

So do you use the mute button? I do.

Edit: Something odd happened to the poll.

I do, but I'd rather I didn't have to.
It can take ages to mute multiple offenders, like in Call of Duty. I don't like having to scroll through each person on the scoreboard and mute them when I could just be playing.
And if there's a "Mute all" button, why haven't they made it easier to find?

It depends, really. Sometimes I get a good laugh out of people raging.

I'm pretty obsessive about my mute button, I'll dive into a bush mid game (as long as I don't see any enemies directly in front of me) just to mute someone.

I tend not to mute unless they're really annoying. Most of the time I laugh at how people act. Pretty entertaining, if your insane enough.

Sometimes, if theyre breathing really heavily down the mic or just moaning, sometimes its fun to listen people scream in failure.

Some people can be really useful on BFBC2, on Black Ops... ehhh not so much.

Yes. I hate it when I see people complaining about annoying people on online games. People talk crap all the time; why should online gaming be any different?

I actually congratulate people in game if they did a nice kill on me.

...

So like yeah.

Although, we still have plenty of people like this.

I think the total "Fuck count" when combined in the 2 videos is about... 900 or something? Yeah.

I only really mute people when they have constant, annoying background noises going on like static or music.

i dont leave home without my mute button. its not just PFSs either. some MMOs have a built in voice function that is on by default. its wonderful, but people need to learn how to use a PTT button. i dont want to listen to you breathe.

I mute 99% of the time, I don't if there mic just picks up breath and I can't hear it for example.

I think the worst ones are those dumb ass's who play music, put there mic on and play ... you ruin your own score, my score and you have an awful taste in music, no I don't love the way you lie!

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I don't see (hear?) that much "12 year old" stuff. And even the ones I do come across are fairly decent. The worst I ever hear on a regular basis are people passivly swearing if they were killed or something, which is hardly worth kicking a fuss over. I think the game that coined the obnoxious online stereotype was Halo 2 and other online games from that era (just something I noticed - everyone only complained about H2's multiplayer community, but as time went on, pretty much the whole online FPS kerfuffle were accused of being a bunch of brats).

What I'm trying to say is, I think people are exagerrating based on experiences from older games. I think the gaming community are maturing (even the casual guys).

However, one thing I ALWAYS see, that annoys the hell out of me, are people playing music into their speaker. So yeah, I mute those guys on the spot.

I don't use it for the sole reason that I don't have a headset in and I guess no headset = no player chat (on Xbox at least).
