Just a quick social experiment. Each boat has a bomb

Do you vote for the same party as your father? You don't have to say which party or why you do it, I'm just looking for yes or no answers.

Nope. For the record though, I voted Liberal Democrats for Senate and spat on my House of Reps ballot form. Living in a safe seat sucks, we're not going to see any funds for our hospitals or public transport no matter who we vote for.

I used to be a republican because my father is and that's what im going to put down as my party, but I will vote for anyone who is best qualified for the job.

As a matter of fact I do, though this'd probably vary depending on which constituency we're voting from.

Yes or no answers earn you a warning on the Escapist...

To answer your question: no, I don't vote the same party, but something similar (multi-party system around here).

Yes I do.

I don't know exactly what prompted this question, but are you sure it wouldn't be more relevant to ask whether we vote for the same party as our same-gendered parent? My answer would be the same, but some Escapists are female, after all.

I don't know who my father votes for, or even if he votes at all. So... maybe, I guess?

My father is a bit of a conservative libertarian (Think Objectivism, Minus the atheism), and he votes Republican

I identify just about the same, and I'll likely vote Republican in the next General Election. So yes.

EDIT: And my mother is a arch-conservative, who also votes Republican. Same with most of my father's side of the family.

EDIT EDIT: My younger sister has moderate conservative to populist leanings. My little brother is a classical "Family values" conservative, as of this time, the best that I can tell. They are ages 16 and 13 respectively. Hope that helps with whatever you are doing.

I did in the last election so I guess that's a yes vote from me, although it may change by the next UK election as since the Conservatives have gone up and the Liberal Democrats gone down in my opinion since the Coalition took power so I've decided to take a neutral position next time and decide without former prejudices between those two and Labour when the polls open again.

Well my Dad never says but I'm fairly sure he votes for the Labour party, and provided I'm 18 before the next election, I'll vote Green since the Lib Dems messed up.

So the answer's no.

Not that it matters. I live in a Tory safe seat.

I appear to have accidentally created duplicate threads. The newer one has a functioning poll. My apologies.

Nope.

Although i'm not saying who I do vote for, can't be bothered explaining it to some of the bleeding hearts around here.

More or Less, we both lean left. But, more often then not I vote NDP instead of liberal.

Nope, Anarchy for me.
Of course I can't say that and be taken seriously, so when I am asked what party I support (though my father is a conservative), I will simply say:
"I support the 3rd party: The Common Sense Party."

My father always votes republican and I now do as well, though that was after coming to my own conclusions about what I believed.

Father votes republican....I vote independent with a sort of schizophrenic mix of liberal left and soft libertarianism. The libertarian part is the only point at which he and I have any common ground, but even then my hardcore perspective on it is waaaay out there compared to the conservative republican mindset.
