Oh, Farscape, how I love thee.

Farscape is zany and dramatic and romantic and hilarious and just WONDERFUL.

Also, semi off-topic, but Farscape helped me get into my first choice college. Seriously. I auditioned for the acting program at NYU and, in my interview, the woman who auditioned me asked, "If everything goes the way you want it to, what will you be doing in 15 years." After debating with myself about how nerdy this would sound, I told her "I want to act in science fiction television." She then told me that she loves science fiction and asked what my favorite series is. I told her, "Well, this Australian show called Farscape..." and she interrupted "I love Farscape! I have seen all the episodes many times..." and on and on. And we talked about how much sci fi and classical theatre have in common (she's a Shakespeare professor). And the interview went well and I got in! So yeah. Watch Farscape and your collegiate dreams will come true. Also, I see it as a testament to Farscape's awesomeness that this professor discusses it in her Shakespeare classes.

Edit: I also like SG1 and Sanctuary. Recently, Sanctuary has gotten goooood.

Doctor who is fracking awesome. I grew up with Stargate SG1 and loved every second of it...until Richard Dean Anderson left, at which time the show definitely took a turn for the worse. I don't know what people are talking about though, Universe is actually pretty good, kind of a Stargate meets BSG(the newer series). You also can't go wrong with Fringe, great Gorram show. Eureka is also pretty cool, in a town full of mad scientist kind of way.

This is why I put this thread up... I've seen Doctor Who mentioned a few times and I wouldn't have even thought to consider it. I will now be looking into it.

From the list, firefly. Damn, fox is fay fay di pian for cancelling that show!

Otherwise, a town called eureka. Where the saying "what can go wrong will go wrong" is proven on an almost daily basis! Firefly's awesome, but somehow, eureka has become my televisiual "happy place".

My favourite, and perhaps only SciFi show I watch, is Firefly. Just so gorram good.
I'm probably exclaiming how it's "Just so gorram good" to my friends all the time hahahaha

good thing I didn't make this thread, otherwise the poll choices woulda all been the same thing ;p

but hmm as for other shows...I've watched some of the others but never was all the way in (Star Trek, various, round and bout)
been meaning to get into/more into the likes of Stargate and Battlestar Galactica (recent iterations anyway)

fringe,
firefly -I've started using Goram all the time without meaning too. great for around kids though)
BSG reboot
babylon 5- I found it kinda slow but really its an almost perfect length for over arching plot and individual story lines
twilight zone
Sanctuary (ok may not strictly qualify as sci-fi but I'm including it here anyways)
Stargate SG-1

Wow I watch a lot of this stuff....or maybe I just have a crush on amanda tapping

You've already hit the high notes: Firefly and BSG. Doctor Who absolutely has some high notes, ("Water of Mars" and "The Library") amongst a lot of campy fun.
I would highly recommend Stargate Universe. It takes a lot of heat for not being like SG-1 or SG-Atlantis, but it's not suppose to be like those series. In point of fact, it pokes fun at those series frequently. If you enjoyed the process of 'getting to know' the characters of Firefly and the command decisions of BSG, absolutely check out SGU. Just remember, it's not trying to be either show of those shows. It has its own Destiny.
Clever pun, I giggled.

And yes, i have been known to giggle every now and then. It's fun, especially on a bus.

Where's the Doctor Who option??????

Of all of those listed Star Trek (all, but especially original and TNG), BSG (mainly just new version), Farscape, & Firefly were fantastic shows and worthy of their praise. IMO X-Files was overhyped and personally I never really 'got' the Stargates (not enough substance, never sympathised with characters).

But B5 is so underrated these days, and increasingly so as time goes on. Yes the sets were shocking, the CGI is laughable (nowadays), and the fashions are more 90's than Friends; but the overall story arc has fantastic payoffs, and depths that only the recent great HBO shows are reaching.

STARGATE!!! SG1 to be specific. Atlantis is great as well. Universe can go die.
Why? Seriously. I'm not trying to be a troll. These are three very different shows that happen to be in the same continuity. One's a psychological thriller, commenting on the human condition, while the other two are unabashedly campy fun. Make no mistake, I'm not ragging on SG1 or Atlantis, they're simply very different shows.

I would say Firefly but since it was only one season the honour has to go to BSG, the new version.
The story is great, the characters are well developed, and every episode was entertaining.
Firefly is a close second and SG-1 is my third.
