They're all good, but I've got a soft spot for the first Thor. I loved the fish out of water gags, like "I need a horse" and "I like this drink. ANOTHER!" *smash*.

Punisher: War Zone. It's a pre-Avengers movie I know and may not count but it's my favorite comic-based movie in general. It's a great example of what you can really get away with on an R rated movie and it makes me really hopeful for what a Deadpool movie could be...but won't be because Fox...Between P:WZ and, the first couple of Blade movies I miss R-Rated comic flicks.

I really like the first Thor movie (like a lot, love would be a better word) but I am conflicted on the sequel. I feel that all the movies were injured due to the Avengers. Captain America 2 ended up good but I still think they rushed him out of the past for the Avengers. He could have had 2 or even 3 films in World War 2. Thor 2 was the worst as they supposedly cut scenes with the villains and Thor to focus on Loki which while I know people like Loki made the movie worse for it. Also the end of Thor 1 is ruined by the Avengers. I know they say how he gets back briefly but they make such a big deal out of him being trapped and then Avengers kills all that tension so he can fight with the others.

I think everyone agrees that Thor 2 was the least talked about film in the second wave and the only benefit it has is it set itself up for a really good third act which will not be damaged by Avengers 2 forcing Thor away.

Iron Man, particularly the first. It had to be to get the ball rolling, and RDJ clearly had as much fun with the role as Johnny Depp did with Captain Jack Sparrow. He's the reason why Tony Stark is the most popular Avenger right now. If some complained that he was almost the main character in their combined movie too, that's why. Same for the animated series.

Less consequentially, I think this is the first time in any movie where the villain gets take-out pizza and shares it with the hero and his friends, and it wasn't even poisoned.

I've seen most of those movies (not all) and from those, I liked Guardians of the Galaxy the most. Because it was fun to watch, a little silly but not too much. And it looked reaaaally nice (I thought Rocket looked amazing)

Haven't seen Guardians yet so I'll pick The Avengers. It's one of the few movies I've bothered to go see in the cinema in recent years

Guardians of the Galaxy is everything I want in a movie.

It's funny, fast paced, amazing casting, awesome characters, brilliant music, and just a feast for the eyes.
Story is first on my list, but to each his own...

TWS gets my vote since it's the only MCU flick with a plot that has intrigue. It's also the only one with hard hitting action.

So far (as in right now), Guardians of the Galaxy... Because I didn't really have a favorite, per se, until I actually saw one in a theater... (Then again, I was digging the Guardians beforehand the same way I do the Hulk, so there's that...)

Apparently, The Winter Soldier could change that, though...

Eh, Guardians was overrated so it's nowhere close, for me. If I see a film set in space featuring a talking raccoon with a machine gun beside a sentient tree, I expect a little less rote formula and a lot more weird or out there.

I voted Winter Soldier, because Cap's generally always been my favourite Avenger, and that film - aside from just being really, really good (apart from it arguably undermining any message it actually had, but I'll gloss over that... ) - showed him to be the badass, take-charge leader that The Avengers really didn't.

Plus, it was such a great ensemble piece; Cap and Widow make perhaps my favourite duo in the MCU, and then Falcon and Fury had their moments. Arguably some of the best action scenes in any comicbook film, too (I particularly love the opening on the ship).

I liked Guardians of the Galaxy, it was funny, set in a Sci-Fi setting, fast-paced, good visuals, and a decent plot. What more could you ask for?

Avengers for me. I genuinely wish I liked guardians as much as most people did. There were like, 3 funny segments. Every other attempt at comedy kinda fell flat for me. And some parts were unbelievably corny. Especially the ending.

Plus, the action was really boring, IMO.

Another vote for Guardians from me. Easily their funniest movie but it also had some great action and extremely likable characters. The movie also has an incredible colour palette making it the best looking of all the Marvel movies too. Oh, and this kind of goes without saying, but the soundtrack is fantastic.

Just---- more? Given the setting and its characters, they could've really pushed the boat out and created something memorable. Except they created something utterly predictable and quite conservative. It was such a safe film, and I was genuinely a little disappointed by that (Gamora was a bit of a wuss, too, and I much prefer Rocket with a British accent).

I enjoyed it, sure, I'll definitely buy it (there were a few great moments), and I have higher hopes for the sequel now they've got the dull origins thing out of the way. But in the words of some guy in Lost In Translation, I would've liked this; "Morrrrre--- intensity!".

I'd say my top 3 are Winter Soldier, Avengers, and The First Avenger in that order. Guardians was good however I felt the other three were just done better. Also Guardians is still fresh in everyone's minds so its actually no wonder a lot of people are choosing that over the older movies.

Winter Soldier had the luck of having a stage built up over 9 movies that it proceeded to flip the tables on. It also did so that still rang true of silver age absurdity that the films have reveled in while other wise being a pretty straight faced spy movie. Of course having a twist and pulling it off are two separate things entirely and luckily, as with the Mandarin twist, they pulled it off with aces. Rewriting a bit of Tony's own history and leaving us with an Empire Strikes Back or Revenge of the Sith scenario but still with a glimmer of hope.

Also Chris Evans pulls off the boy scout and traditional hero archetype so well and being a die hard Superman fan its always a pleasure to see just utterly good superheroes that have no other motivation to do good other than that they want to to be in one of the greatest superhero films of all time.

Avengers. For being the melting pot for all that had happened in the Marvel universe till that point; the fight between Iron Man and Thor; the film where Loki came into his own; the first glimpse of Thanos. The fact it came off so remarkably well covers up how inherently risky the whole enterprise was, and how it could easily have been a failure.

I really can't decide between Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier.

Guardians was a fun space opera, the kind we need to see more of. Can we get James Gunn to direct the next Star Wars?

Winter Soldier was a topical spy thriller that really hit at what I (a Brit) like about Captain America: He's Captain America, not Captain Republican or Captain Democrat.

I'd have to go with Guardians of the Galaxy. While I fully acknowledge its tonal problems, as well as the possibility that Captain America 2 might be objectively better, Guardians just hits all the right notes for me. It's funny, offbeat, well paced, and still capable of grabbing for the heart when it needs to. It features a great cast who are all decently fleshed out for the time given to them, and I love how cartoonishly, joyfully evil Ronan is. Visually, I'd call it the best Marvel movie by far. Every frame is alive with energy and a distinct visual personality, and the way it repeats motifs throughout (like the outstretched hand or the "ravager spaceship as angel" symbolism) is smart, if presented a little heavy-handedly by the end. It's just great.

The Winter Soldier is my other favorite. Somehow it manages to make its metal-armed assassin, winged jetpack, and flying automated aircraft carriers believable, presenting a surprisingly dark movie that isn't without a bit of well-placed levity. The action is all fantastically shot, the entirety of the movie is perfectly paced, and Robert Redford would have made the Marvel Cinematic Universe's best villain yet if not for Loki. It also did a great job of presenting what Captain America really should be, something the first movie lacked: an image of our country's ideals, trying to accept progress without compromising what he believes in. I really don't have any complaints.
