Poll: Your Favourite TIE

Sorry to dissappoint, but this thread is not about the cloth phallic symbol that goes around your neck on formal occasions. I'm speaking of the Empire's line of screamy, cannon fodder starfighters: the TIE Fighter.

(Argh, horrible visual pun!)

For some reason, I always found the TIE fighters somewhat appealing, even though they practically are cockpit-shaped coffins mounted on a pair of engines with two cannes nailed to the side for good measure. Now, if Wookieepedia is any clear indication, Sienar Fleet Systems produced a whole lot of different TIE models with..."mixed" results.

To cut to the chase, which of the more "iconic" TIE Fighters do you like the most, by aestethics or capabilities?

Spoiler: The standard TIE Fighter, the brunt of the Imperial Forces

Spoiler: the TIE Bomber, slow and cumbersome, but packs a massive punch

Spoiler: the TIE Interceptor, where the ace pilots go

Spoiler: the TIE Advanced/Avenger, the mass production model based on Vader's TIE x1 Advanced prototype

Spoiler: the TIE Defender, the crême de la crême of TIE Fighters, and prehaps starfighters in general

To me, it's a tie (pun most definitly NOT intended) between the Interceptor's sinister look and the Defender's ridiculus performance.

In the words of Kyle Katarn (paraphrased, probably), your standard TIE grunt is just suicidal. And your TIE-Defender jockey is bloodthirsty. TIE-In pilots are both suicidal AND bloodthirsty. If you run into a pack of these maniacs, you'd better hope your hyperdrive is functional.

Actually I think my very favorite is the TIE Tank (technically a Century Tank). That's right, they took a TIE and stuck treads on it. Awesome? Yes. Hilarious? Heck yeah!

It's a tie between the look of the Interceptor and the crazy abilities of the Defender.

That's both awesome and incredibly cringeworthy.I'd probably go for a tie clip with a little TIE Fighter or the Imperial emblem on it.

but really, my favorite imperial fighter would have to the the Tie Interceptor.

The Interceptor of course. At least they have deflector shields. The fighters are fodder, the bombers are used to choke the enemy with wreckage. At least with the interceptor you have a fighting chance to survive a heated dogfight.

The Interceptor doesn't have deflector shields. It's faster and more agile than the standard Fighter ánd carries twice the amount of guns but it's not any sturdier.

I would have sworn the things had deflector shields. But then it has been well over a decade since I played TIE Fighter and I am easily confused in such matters.
