-inb4 the sword thread trend-

I used my sword to cut up the search box so I couldn't use it, sorry guys.

Broadsword is defined as a large two-handed sword. Longsword is a long, thin, double-edged sword.

My vote goes to the bamboo sword, it so kickass it doesn't need to be sharp.

I feel like I want to mock you by insisting on a khopesh, or a kodachi, or a flamberge, or a shamshir...but I won't. I will question why you chose to include lightsabers in the poll, instead of, you know...actual sabers.

In any case, the bastard sword (for sheer versatility). I'm not entirely certain whether that would count towards broadsword or longsword, so I'll let my love of claymores influence me and go with broadsword.

Because there's scimitar and machetes, which I think fill the role of sabers just fine :p

Also flameberges and kodachis and that other thingamajig aren't cool enough to be int he pole. Unless by flameberge you mean an actual flaming sword.

Chainsword. Well, the Eviscerator, to be precise, but anything with a chain is all kinds of awesome.

Katana; awesome look, practical design and just an overall great weapon. Fun doing tameshigiri with them. Oh, and shikomizue are awesome as well.

I'm going to go with claymores for practicality was tempted to say katanas but they were only so masterfully forged to make up for Japans generaly poor quality steel.

Katanas in general though they lose to iconic Broad Swords like the Guts' or the Buster Sword an etc.

Edit: And Lightsabers are just energized longswords or dual ended longswords >.>

Bastard!

Sorry, couldn't resist. I actually own a hand-and-a-half Wakizashi which is awesome. So I pick that one please.

The rapier. Inigo Montoya uses one, they usually have the coolest designs, and they are quick.

[sub]You can't spell rapier without rape.[/sub]

Sorry.

What.
But... They're not similar. At all! A sabre would be closer to a rapier.

That being said, rapier. I'm a fencer. Need I say more?

Lightsabers cut up almost everything, so they win by default.

"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
"No, Inigo. I, am your father."
(Darth proceeds to cut Inigo's rapier in half as Inigo runs away crying like a little girl...)

I own several longswords (proper ones not shiny pieces of stainless shit), it has some awesome yet pretty strange fighting styles.
Although its use in warfare is very debatable, but at most it was a backup weapon usually put aside in favour of a polearm.

Also, needs a chainsword option.

Oh whoops, guess I got confused with what a saber is. I keep thinking of the swords those stereotypical Arabs with the shoes that curl at the toes and ling Fu Manchus haha.

Definitly the Katana or Dai-Katana...

More agile than Long//Broad swords and the sharpest edge.

Also i really like the style...
