One of few who got their start with the original Myst here. My parents would solve all the puzzles, while I was the annoying squawking child at the side pointing out anything that occurred to me as unusual, usually scenery completely unrelated to any of the puzzles at hand.

Had a great time with Rollercoaster Tycoon and Dinosaur Tycoon as well. Still have the disc in good condition for the latter. Also, a trip to the bathroom will be $20. I was the fucking Kotick of amusement parks back then.

I was 10 or so I think. My first game was AoE2 I think. My first milestone was playing a game without cheats on. Good times.
I think we may have shared the same existence.
You fought off a herd of ravenous moose at the age of 2?
No. But I did escape a pack of wild dogs, when I was ten.

I was 7 I think, and my first game (besides Minesweeper and stuff like that) was Superman 64, and it was the shit (back before I knew what a good game was)!

Of course, I was just happy to have an N64 and a game to play. Needless to say, the second I got Donkey Kong 64, I totally forgot about Superman.

Neglected to add my own. First game was on 2600, likely kaboom, or berzerk, not sure which as I was about 3-4 years old.

Even though I had beaten every game I had owned before (that could be beaten) I personally consider my first real milestone beating battletoads. And yes I still have flashbacks of the jetbike sections.

I was 5 when I played Super Mario World, and my first milestone was beating the game... But I took the easy way and used the star road to get to Bowsers castle...

I was 5, and it was the original Backyard Baseball. Pete Wheeler is still one of my all-time favorite video game characters. I liked him even better than Pablo.

I can't remember anything from before I was 4, but I remember it was somewhere around there. My first few games were Mario/Duck Hunt at my a house and Sonic (2, I think) at my friend's house.

I was one of the winners from some ancient nintendo power magazine contest. The first however many people to send in a picture of the final screen of mario won a mario letter jacket. I still have it.

Yes, I'm that old.

EDIT

In retrospect, an even older milestone was probably beating Indiana Jones and ... the temple of doom? Raiders of the Lost Ark? Some Indiana Jones game for the 2600.

I was five or six. My first game was Spear of Destiny, which would manage to put a fear of first-person shooters in me for a long time to come.

Heh. My genesis was my parents having too much cold duck on their anniversary...

OH, you meant gaming genesis!

Well then, it was Oregon Trail in a computer lab at my high school. Then came M.U.L.E. on the C-64... addiction soon followed...

Bunch of kids... I was gaming back before the Atari. Here's a pic of one since 90% of you have never seen it.

I started with the original Call of Duty series, where Veteran meant if you were shot once, (or twice with a pistol) you were dead. And there were no health packs or regenerating health. Take that, Modern Warfare gamers! And my first milestone was probably killing Fatal1ty about five times in ten minutes, for those of you who remember him. If you don't, he was probably the best gamer in the world back when halo 2 and quake 4 were at their peaks.

EDIT: I was about seven or eight.

I thought this was going to be about the SEGA Genesis. Pity, mine still works perfectly. Got it hooked up to an old TV even so that if ever I've got the retro bug I can pop a game in and play. NES also works... sorta... hooked up to the same TV.

But honestly I wasn't much into gaming for the longest time. It was Age of Empires that eventually hooked me. My first RTS. I absolutely loved that game, played it constantly. Eventually it led to other games like Warcraft: Humans vs. Orcs and Command & Conquer, eventually Starcraft. Mechwarrior 2 was another gut-punch as far as gaming goes, cementing my love of the PC gaming scene.

Still grumpy about Microsoft closing down Ensemble because of all this, same with FASA. Microsoft really have completely abandoned the PC, which makes me sad because I still recall a time when they genuinely seemed to give a damn.

Ah well, the world goes on.

I was around 3 and played Sonic 1 on the Sega Genesis. First milestone was beating The Lion King (also on the good ol Gens), which was the first game I ever beat.

First videogame I think I ever played was Pole Position for the Atari. Back then, (I think I was four or so at the time) it was really damn hard to win at all. x3
